Chapter 531 I Finally Get It Now
Conrad was stunned by her unexpected response.
Sophia couldn't keep her composure anymore. She hastily exclaimed, "Why are you so sure before even doing a paternity test? Are you trying to deny me?"
Hannah sighed and patiently replied, "Ms. Woods, I am really not your biological mother. If you still doubt it, I'll agree to this paternity test."
Even Lewis couldn't help but glance at Hannah.
Hannah remained calm. It was as if she genuinely believed that Sierra was not her daughter.NôvelDrama.Org content rights.
Sierra insisted, "Let's do it. Let's do it now!"
She couldn't believe it. Sophia and her DNA test showed a 30% match. How could there be a 30% similarity if they were not related?
She thought Hannah didn't want to acknowledge her because of how she looked now.
Lewis signaled to Conrad with a glance. Conrad understood and immediately went to call the doctor to collect DNA samples for the test.
The doctor arrived promptly. He collected samples from both women and hurried off to conduct the paternity test.
As the doctor reached the door, Lewis suddenly said, "Wait."
The doctor paused and turned back to look at Lewis, "Mr. Alvarez, is there anything else you'd like to instruct?" Lewis' gaze shifted to Sophia's face, and he said, "Since we're doing this, Sophia should also participate."
Sophia furrowed her brow, looking puzzled.
Hannah's expression instantly changed. Her smile became somewhat stiff. "Sophia is my daughter, and I'm very sure of it. There's no need for her to do the test."
Lewis continued, "Sophia and Sierra share a 30% DNA match. We need an explanation for that. Ms. Yales, since you're so certain that Sierra is not your daughter, you should let them both take the test together. This way, we can ensure that Sierra is convinced and satisfied. Don't you think so?" Before Hannah could respond, Sierra chimed in, "Exactly! If we're doing it, let's all do it together. I won't believe you unless the results confirm what you're saying!"
"That's unnecessary."
"It is necessary," Lewis stated firmly, "We're doing it together."
Hannah frowned. Her anger was rising.
Suddenly, Sophia stood up, walked directly to the doctor, and glanced back at Sierra with a hint of disdain.
"Well, let's get it over with. Chairman Alvarez is right. We should all be convinced. I'm willing to do it."
Sophia handed a few strands of her hair to the doctor.
"Sophia ..." Hannah tried to stop her but was too late.
The doctor took the hair samples and left the room.
Hannah, who had appeared calm earlier, seemed concerned now. Inadvertently, she raised her head and met the profound gaze of Lewis.
She was momentarily startled but quickly averted her eyes and looked elsewhere.
The ward fell into a tense silence again. After a long hour of waiting, the doctor returned with the two test reports and handed them to Conrad. Conrad, in turn, handed the reports to Lewis.
Lewis casually opened the two reports and glanced over them. A hint of mockery curled his lips when he reached the final results.
Sophia rushed over and checked, "What does it say?"
She directly read the final results and smiled when she saw Sierra's report. But when she looked at her own test results, her smile faded. "How can this be ..."
Sitting on the bed and unable to move, Sierra grew anxious. "What are the results? Let me see!"
Anger crept onto Sophia's face as she stared at the doctor. "Did you tamper with the results?"
The doctor responded calmly, "Miss, I'm just doing my job. There's no benefit for me in tampering with the results. The results are accurate. If you don't believe it, you can have it tested somewhere else."
"You ..." Flustered, Sophia turned her head and looked at Hannah.
Hannah appeared uneasy. She avoided Sophia's gaze, not daring to make eye contact.
Lewis raised the two test reports and stared at Hannah. "Ms. Yales, would you like to take a look?"
Sophia snatched the two reports and briskly approached Hannah. "Mom, what's going on? Why does it say we're not related?"
Sophia's words brought another moment of silence to the hospital room.
Sierra was bewildered. She had considered the fact that she might not be Hannah's daughter, but she never thought that the same would apply to Sophia.
Oddly, Sierra couldn't help but burst into laughter, especially when she recalled how smugly confident Sophia had been earlier.
"I see. I get it now," Sierra said,
turning to Hannah. "You were so sure I wasn't your daughter and didn't want Sophia to be tested. Did you already know that she isn't your daughter either?"
Hannah looked uncomfortable. She didn't know what to say for a while.
Sierra pressed on, "If that's the case, you should know who Sierra's biological parents are, right?"
"So, who are they?"
Upon hearing that, Hannah instinctively glanced toward Lewis.
Lewis squinted his eyes as if pressuring Hannah.
Hannah met his gaze and immediately lowered her head. "I don't know."
"How is that possible? If you didn't know, how could you be so sure that I'm not your daughter and defend Sophia?"
Hannah suddenly stood up, her tone heavy. "I'm sorry, I'm feeling a bit unwell. I need some fresh air."
She ran out of the ward. Watching her fleeting in a panic, the others in the room exchanged puzzled looks.
Conrad instinctively looked at Lewis.
Lewis furrowed his brow, his thoughts unclear.
"Chairman Alvarez, what's going on?"
Lewis didn't respond. Instead, he abruptly stood up and walked out of the room.
Conrad quickly followed him.
Hannah said she needed fresh air, but actually, she had already left the hospital.
Lewis sat in the car. He suddenly picked up a file from the side and reviewed the contents. He seemed deep in thought.
"Chairman Alvarez, where are we going?"
"To the Alvarez Manor."
Conrad looked puzzled for a moment but proceeded to drive to the mansion.
Nancy had gone shopping and didn't return until 8 o'clock in the evening.
She said to Murray, "Remind me to return earlier next time. It's already so late today. It's over dinner time. Ask them to cook something later."
Halfway through her sentence, she suddenly caught sight of a person sitting on the sofa in the room. She instinctively halted her steps.
Upon closer inspection, she realized it was Lewis.
Dressed in all black, he sat completely still like a statue. He looked somewhat eerie.
For some reason, Nancy had an ominous feeling seeing him sitting there with such a gloomy presence.
She gathered herself and put on a smile before approaching him.
"Lewis, when did you arrive? Are you feeling better?"
Her smile froze as her gaze shifted to the paper on the coffee table.
Lewis fiddled with his watch and said, "I finally get it now."
His tone was unclear, and it sent shivers down Nancy's spine.
"What do you mean?" Nancy forced a smile as she sat down across from him.
