Chapter 552
Chelsea was taken aback by the accusations, her mind buzzing so loudly it was like she had forgotten how to speak for a moment. She stood there, mouth agape, and after what felt like ages, finally managed to stammer, "Who said anything about an abortion? If that was on the cards, it would've happened way before five months. Seriously, who's not thinking straight here?"
"You..." Caleb was about to fire back when Eliza was wheeled out of the emergency room.
Eliza looked as pale as a ghost, which only deepened everyone's concern.
"Elle, how are you doing?"
"Elle, don't scare us like that."
"Elle..."
"She's still out cold," Caleb interjected, unable to hold back.
Chelsea's face fell. After all this, was the baby okay or not?
She marched up to Caleb, grabbed his arm, and demanded, "Is the baby alright? You didn't perform a D&C without permission, did you? How could you be so heartless? Did you even get her consent for an abortion? We're here to save lives, not for you to play executioner."
Caleb was left speechless.
Was she seriously laying into him?
He had been working tirelessly through the surgery, and not a single thank you. Now, she was calling him a murderer.
If he were, she'd be the first on his list.
"Just ask the nurse," Caleb replied, determined to end this pointless back-and-forth and walked off.
"Wait..." she called after him. How did someone like him even become a doctor? No compassion or empathy whatsoever. The Welton family was beyond saving.
Chelsea couldn't help but mutter a curse under her breath.
The nurse wheeled Eliza into the ICU, hooked her up to an IV, and gave Chelsea some instructions.
"Press the call button when the IV finishes. She'll need several bags," the nurse said kindly. Chelsea nodded and softly asked, "Nurse, can you tell me if my friend's baby is alright?"
"The baby is safe for now, but she really needs to be careful with her diet from now on. This was a close call, and she might not be so lucky next time. To be frank, even if the abortion didn't succeed, it could still have harmed the baby significantly. She must be more cautious."
Chelsea was visibly relieved, her breathing heavy but steadier. "We'll definitely be more careful, thank you so much." Wow.
What kind of drama is this?
Why is there even a mention of abortion?
In the doctor's office, Caleb, after much deliberation, decided to call Casper, who was far away in France.
"Her blood tests showed traces of
testsnovelbin
abortifacients, but it seems she
didn't take them willingly. She's okay for now, and so is the baby, thankfully. Do you think someone doesn't want your child to be born? Any idea who it might be?"
Casper's grip on his phone tightened, his eyes blazing with anger.
Just as he vanished from Falconridge, someone decided to target his woman.
Did they think she was an easy target with no one to defend her?
"By the way, are you sure you're not coming back to Falconridge? Even if you
care you should at least t
ke
care of your health. Your injuries can still heal..."
Caleb's words were abruptly cut off by Casper, "Let's drop this subject."
Caleb sighed in exasperation.
Ignoring it wasn't solving anything.
He couldn't stand seeing Casper wasting away like this.
"Brother, I'm serious. And about your wife... hey, brother, brother..."
As the call ended with a beep, Caleb sighed helplessly.
There was a knock on the door, and he put down the phone. "Come in."
Chelsea walked in.
"There are a few things I don't quite get, and I wanted to ask you about them," she said, her tone not exactly warm, but at least calm.
