Chapter 20 Summon Prince Wenhao
Chapter 20 Summon Prince Wenhao
All the imperial doctors were stunned.
How was this possible? How could the Retired Emperor still be able to eat? His heart failure was
extremely serious. He was merely one step away from death. He shouldn’t be able to swallow even a
mouthful of water.
The chief doctor hurried in and felt his pulse. Then he cried, "God bless North Tang. God bless Your
Majesty!"
The Retired Emperor's pulse was getting stronger.
The golden gauze curtain was rolled up, and the dark curtain was slowly opened. The Retired Emperor
looked tired. He scanned over the hall, and asked in a hoarse voice, "What are you doing on your
knees? Get up!"
His voice was like the rustling of fallen leaves, light and weak, but it struck all the others like thunder.
Everyone showed ecstasy and stood up after kowtowing.
The Retired Emperor sighed lightly. The cyanosis on his lips slowly faded away. After a glance, he
asked, "Where is Wenhao?"
Eunuch Chang hurriedly explained, "Prince Wenhao was too sad and passed out. Now he’s resting in
the side hall."
"Call him in." The Retired Emperor patted Lucky on the head, and showed a slight smile, "Go, good
boy. I'll still be here for a while."
Lucky jumped down and walked away, wagging his tail.
“Summon Prince Wenhao!” Eunuch Chang delivered the order.
"And his wife.
.." The Retired Emperor seemed to be pondering or feeling out of strength, then he uttered a few more
words from his dry lips, "Send them in." Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
Everyone was shocked.
Chu Mingcui was startled for a long while. She couldn’t believe that the Retired Emperor wanted to see
Yuan Qingling?
Since the Retired Emperor had recovered, Emperor Mingyuan cleared out the room.
Everyone walked out to the outer hall to wait. In the hall, only the Emperor, Prince Rui, Eunuch Chang,
and the chief doctor stayed.
In the side hall,
Yu Wenhao didn’t stay unconscious for too long. Before Yuan Qingling received the summon of the
Retired Emperor, he woke up.
Yuan Qingling saw him standing up and coming with anger. He couldn’t wait to kill her. She didn't have
the strength to fight back, so she just smiled bitterly, "Just kill me now if you want! Don’t bother to say
anything."
The door was suddenly pushed open, and a servant rushed in. "Your Grace, the Retired Emperor asks
to see you!"
Yu Wenhao's hand was already raised, and he was startled when he heard what the servant said, "The
Retired Emperor?"
The servant replied with joy, “Yes, it’s the Retired Emperor. His Majesty is recovering now. Your grace
and Princess Qingling are summoned.”
Yuan Qingling's stiff body slowly relaxed, and she didn't bother to explain anything to Yu Wenhao even
if she had seen confusion in his eyes. She adjusted her hair bun as she slowly got up, trying to look
decent in front of His Majesty.
The two of them went out and passed the outer hall.
All the princes were here. Yuan Qingling glanced at Chu Mingcui, and Chu Mingcui also glanced at her,
she then smiled and nodded at her friendly.
Yuan Qingling ignored her and went straight in.
Chu Mingcui’s smile froze
Before entering the inner hall, Yuan Qingling took a deep breath. She felt a faint pain from her wound
and dizziness in her head. She felt so cold that she couldn’t stop trembling, but her face felt heated.
She knew she was having a high fever.
Yu Wenhao opened the curtain and went in. The bead curtain hit Yuan Qingling's face, but she didn't
dare tell her pain. She followed him in obediently.
The hall was silent. Emperor Mingyuan didn't look very happy when he saw them coming in. He had
high hopes for his son, but he was quite disappointed in him after the scandal. No matter how many
wars Yu Wenhao had won, his lack of virtue would eventually stop him from being a great man.
However, he also knew that the Retired Emperor always love his Yu Wenhao. Now that he was getting
better, he naturally wanted his favorite grandson to be there for him. Emperor Mingyuan couldn’t go
against his will.
The couple knelt in front of the Retired Emperor’s bed. Looking at his grandfather who was sober now.
Yu Wenhao couldn’t believe what he saw; tears ran down his cheeks.
