Chapter 926
Karol couldn't help but laugh bitterly, "Put away your affection! I don't need it!"
Don't need it?
Tears welled up in Karol's eyes even more furiously as she gritted her teeth in anger. "Is it only Emily in your eyes? Is that it? Is she really that perfect?"
"Hmm?"
Gilbert raised his eyebrows in surprise, a smirk playing on his lips. "I don't know why I have to explain myself to you, but since you asked, let me put it this way—you're not even in the same league as her."
Karol stiffened, her face draining of color as hatred began to brew within her.
Gilbert, running out of patience, frowned and urged, "Have you decided what you want? If not, leave. I'll have my people contact you..." "I've decided!"
Karol exclaimed through clenched teeth, her hands balled into fists. "I want fame, I want to be famous."
That's not difficult.
Gilbert raised an eyebrow, relieved. "Alright, I got it. I'll arrange it."
He gestured towards the door.
"You can leave now."
Karol bit her lip, taking a couple of steps towards the door.
"Oh, and..."
Gilbert called out just as she thought she was leaving.
Karol turned around eagerly, "Mr. Harrison?"
Gilbert looked at her, his lips parting slightly. "I promise to make you famous. As for last night, keep it to yourself. Seal your lips and don't mention it to anyone... If word gets out and Emily hears even a whisper..."
His tone darkened, ominous.
"I can make you famous, but I can also blacklist you, ensuring you disappear from this industry!"
Karol froze, her face paling further.
She had thought he cared, perhaps even offer some consolation... How naive she was!
This man, he had no heart!
All his warmth was reserved for Emily!
"I understand!"
Tears in her eyes, Karil ran out.
As soon as she left, Gilbert abruptly raised his hand to his forehead in frustration, cursing himself silently.
"Foolish!"
Feeling restless, he turned on the shower, letting the cold water
cascade over him, jolting him eve
from the daze.
Gilbert chuckled bitterly, realizing clarity now served him little purpose.
How could he have been so reckless last night!
To think he, of all people, would stumble into such a mess after drinking!
He couldn't bear to imagine Emily finding out... It would spell disaster!
Their relationship was already on thin ice!
Thinking back, he did drink last night, but how could he have confused Emily with Karol?novelbin
After leaving the bathroom, Gilbert changed his clothes and went to find Emily.
Passing through the corridor, he noticed a cleaner pushing a cart.
The cleaner quickly lowered their head, stepping aside at the sight of him.
Initially, Gilbert didn't pay much attention, but after a few steps, he turned back sharply.
That cleaner looked familiar?
Squinting, he remembered - wasn't that one of Caroline's fans?
She works here?
What a coincidence!
Normally, this wouldn't matter, everyone works.
But something about it felt oddly unsettling to Gilbert.
After a moment's thought, he took out his phone and dialed a number. "Charles, it's me..."
Arriving at Emily's room, he was informed she had already left for the set. As the lead actress, her makeup required a lot of time, necessitating her early departure.
Gilbert frowned and rushed to the set.
"Mr. Harrison," Naomi greeted him with a quick jog.
"Mhm."
Gilbert nodded, asking, "Has Emily eaten anything?"
"Not yet."
Naomi shook her head. "I just
bought her a breakfast sandwich but I didn't realize she dislikes.
n
I pickles... Emily said she'd just have a
couple of slices of toast instead."
Gilbert's expression darkened. Emily wasn't fond of toast.
Compared to pickles, it was barely palatable to her.
