CHAPTER 14
When she left, He went crazy
Chapter 14 Do We Have to Get Divorced?
I hadn’t really divorced Christopher yet, but Evelyn was so impatient.
The stock market value was too high. The value of it was too precious.
I actually didn’t want to keep it. However, I didn’t like Evelyn to feel victorious too quickly.
I frowned slightly. “By what authority are you asking me?”
Evelyn chuckled arrogantly. “It is not suitable for you to seize the shares. Those were given to Chris’s wife. Once your two divorce, the shares won’t belong to you anymore!”
“Have you still not seen a doctor?” I asked, pretending to be puzzled.
Then I continued. “You need to treat the illness early. Otherwise, when the condition worsens to the point where medication doesn’t work, you’ll end up being sent to a mental hospital.
Evelyn narrowed her eyes. “Hope, are you indicating that I’m insane?”
I didn’t want to argue with her.
I asked softly, “Have you received my resignation letter? Please process it ASAP.”
“You don’t need to remind me. I submitted it to HR last night.”
Evelyn wished I could leave today.
I didn’t say anything more.
I went straight to my desk and started organizing what needed to be handed over.
Christopher probably also wanted me to leave as soon as possible. My resignation was likely to happen within the next couple of days.
Evelyn, seeing that I wasn’t willing to compromise, became anxious.
“Regardless, you must return the shares. Don’t be so shameless!”

Connie happened to bring me coffee.
Without looking up, I instructed, “Escort Ms. Valence out.”
In front of others, no matter how angry Evelyn was, she didn’t lose her temper. But not long after, I heard the sound of things being smashed in her office.
Surprisingly, the lawyer had already finished drafting the divorce agreement for me, yet my resignation hadn’t been approved.

printed out the divorce agreement and was about to find Christopher to sign it when Connie rushed in.
“Hope, there’s big news!”
Connie closed the door mysteriously.
“I heard M. Bentley is here! He’s in the CEO’s office giving Mr. Christopher a bad scolding. I never thought Mr. Christopher, such a man, would also be scolded! But Mr. Christopher is so outstanding. The company hasn’t had any problems recently. Why would Mr. Bentley…”
Hearing this, I felt a bit flustered. Bentley probably found out about our impending divorce.
I had planned to finish the divorce proceedings and then find a suitable time to talk to him properly. However, the matter remains undisguised.
I hadn’t intended to get involved, but out of concern for Bentley’s health, I took the divorce agreement and entered the elevator. The elevator went straight to the top floor.
Faint sounds of anger could be heard coming from the CEO’s office.
Everyone in the CEO’s office knew Christopher’s temper.
With Donald standing guard outside, everyone nervously kept their heads down, working diligently.
They were afraid of getting into trouble at this time.
“Ms. Royston!” Seeing me approach, Donald acted as if he had found a savior. He whispered, “You are coming! Please go in and try to persuade Mr. Bentley.”
“Alright.” I nodded.
As I was about to push the door open, I heard Christopher’s cold and urgent voice.
“Grandfather, what else do you want me to do? You were the one who asked me to marry her; I did. You asked me to treat her well; now everyone knows I cherish her. You asked me to give her the shares that my mother left; I didn’t hesitate to transfer them to her! Over these years, haven’t I followed your words enough?”

Hope?

“No! When will you stop interfering in my life?”
When I heard Christopher’s clear and firm response, my head buzzed, and I staggered.
So, the appearance of harmony in our marriage over the past three years was just something he had to do under Bentley’s demand. It turned out that he didn’t willingly transfer those shares to me.
Hope. In his heart, you really don’t mean anything at all.
“Grandfather!”

Suddenly, Christopher’s voice rose in the office.
I snapped back to reality.
Without thinking, I pushed the door and saw Bentley clutching his chest, struggling to breathe. His old condition had
flared up.
“Help Grandfather sit down.”
I quickly walked in and, together with Christopher, helped Bentley sit down. I familiarly took out some pills from the inside pocket of Bentley’s coat.
“Warm water.” As I instructed Christopher, I fed Bentley two pills.
Christopher was surprised. “How did you know where Grandfather’s pills were?”
“There’s so much you don’t know.”
‘Even about the fact that the man I like is you,
Bentley finally began to recover a bit. ‘Grandfather, are you okay? Do you want me to call a doctor?” I asked softly. Bentley waved his hand to refuse, gently patting my hand. Once he felt a bit better, he looked at Christopher coldly. “Don’t even think about the divorce. I arranged for Hope to be with you. That won’t change!”
Christopher glanced at me. “It wasn’t I who brought up the divorce. Why are you angry with me?
“Hope did?” Bentley asked.
“Yes, Grandfather, I did,” I said.
Bentley raised his hand and hit Christophers shoulder hard, angrily saying, “What have you done? She has such a good temper and treats you sincerely. You drove her to ask for a divorce. Reflect on yourself quickly. Let me tell you, I only recognize Hope as my granddaughter–in–law. You can’t just bring anyone home!”
Christopher was shocked and puzzled, looking at me. “What did you do to Grandfather?”

“You’re ungrateful,” Bentley said, very angry. When you just got married, I fell ill. You were busy with the group’s Bam affairs. Do you know who took care of me in the hospital?”

“My dad?” Bentley sneered, “Do you think your dad is such a respectful person? I might as well rely on having a few more servants than rely on him. But how could servants be more caring than Hope?”
He said coldly. “The doctor said I could only have liquid food. Although she couldn’t cook at that time, she made various menus for the kitchen. Even the nutritionist said she was considerate! The doctor asked me to sunbathe every day, and she knew I wouldn’t listen to the servants, so she came to the hospital every day to take me downstairs for sunbathing?”
“Even after I was discharged from hospital, she often visited the Valence Manor to see me. Otherwise, how does she know where was my medicine? She instructed the servants to keep my medicine in my pocket at

Christopher pursed his lips slightly, and then his gaze fell on me. “Why didn’t you ever tell me?
“How could I have told you? When we first got married, we were strangers to each other.
I didn’t know Christopher’s daily whereabouts, and he didn’t care about mine. We hardly saw each other a few times a week.
Also, I took care of Bentley because he was kind to me not to claim credit in front of Christopher.
Bentley took a sip of warm water and patiently asked me, “Hope, have you truly made up your mind to divorce him?”
“Grandfather…” I hesitated, afraid that Bentley would get upset again.
He just looked at me gently. “Just tell me, do you like him or not now?
