Chapter 537 It Was Your Choice
Lewis remained indifferent throughout.
"Is that all?"
Sierra was stunned. Upon hearing his cold tone, she felt her heart fall.
"Lewis, don't you think it's a good idea?" Sierra had learned to read his face after being with him for so long. She could sense something from his reaction.
Lewis chuckled. "After everything you said, you and your mother only want Alvarez Corp, right? If that's what you desire, I'll give it to you."
Sierra was shocked, her eyes filled with confusion. "Lewis, what do you mean?"
"Exactly what I said. Make sure to let me know when you hold the press conference. I'll be there to support you."
With that, he stood up from the couch and left the room.
Even after he disappeared behind the door, neither the mother nor the daughter understood what he meant.
Did he willingly give up Alvarez Corp, which he had worked so hard to acquire?
"Mom, what did he mean by that?" Sierra was getting frustrated. Even after using Alvarez Corp as leverage, she couldn't persuade him. Nancy shook her head helplessly. "I have no idea. Honestly, I'm finding it increasingly difficult to understand him."
Sierra's eyes flashed with resentment. "Does he think I wouldn't dare to hold a press conference?"
Her mother looked at her in surprise and reminded her, "Sierra, please don't do anything reckless. You can't win against him."
"I'm not trying to win against him. I only want to reclaim what's rightfully mine. I couldn't just suffer for so many years in vain."
Worried, Nancy looked at Sierra. Sierra had just accepted her newfound identity and had yet to calm down. She was rushing into things. She had underestimated the challenges ahead.
Sierra's tactics were child's play to Lewis. She was bound to fail.
Conrad shared similar concerns. He whispered to Lewis, "Mr. Alvarez, are you considering letting Sierra hold this press conference? It might not be in your best interest if it becomes a public spectacle."
Lewis leaned back in his seat with his eyes closed. He responded calmly, "Do you really think a press conference will make a difference?"
"Huh?"
Conrad was left perplexed by Lewis' cryptic response. Realizing Lewis had his own plans in mind, he decided not to press further.
Sierra's current condition wouldn't allow her to attend a press conference. Even if she were to proceed, she would only do it after getting her plastic surgery.
Otherwise, people wouldn't believe her with her current appearance. Wearing a mask wouldn't make it more convincing.
She was eager to get plastic surgery and planned to undergo the procedure as soon as her body was ready, and that would be three months later. During these three months, Lewis remained as busy as ever. He continued his demanding work schedule like before Sierra discovered her true identity. He often left early and returned late. However, he always made sure to be back at the Styx Mansion before midnight.
Although the upstairs bedroom remained untouched, Lewis never entered it. Instead, he slept on the living room sofa with the television on every night.
Mrs. Larson once tried to turn off the television, but Lewis woke up immediately with an icy gaze that seemed like he could kill. After that, Mrs. Larson never dared to touch his television again.
Avery visited him a few times but never met him.
Lewis would hear strange sounds like the sound of windows being smashed or the barking of Lucy and Ricky in the yard.
He paid no attention to any of these.
The weather was getting warmer.
Josephine's body had also recovered. Faking her death had almost drained her completely. It took three months of recuperation before she could barely get out of bed and walk.
Today was the first time that Seth had allowed her to go outside. She wore a coat and walked out of the villa with Seth's support.
The wind carried the scent of grass and a hint of coolness. Josephine

Seth helped her sit in the yard and got someone to bring her a glass of juice.
"How do you feel today?"
Josephine withdrew her gaze. "Much better, just a bit short of breath."
"It's normal. The altitude here is high. Your body is weak, so it takes time to get used to it."
Josephine glanced at him. He was still dressed the same. He still had the deceptive smile at the corner of his mouth. He looked like a gentle and harmless young man.
His hair seemed untouched. It grew even longer than before, almost reaching his shoulders. It was difficult to distinguish his gender.
His appearance would definitely deceive those who didn't know him.
Josephine averted her gaze and said, "It's so boring here. There's not even a television or cell phone."
Seth chuckled. "You don't know anyone here. Even if you had a cell phone, there's no one to contact. So what's the point?"
"Can't I use the inte?"
"The inte? Is it because you're bored, or do you want to find out about a certain someone?"
Josephine hesitated momentarily. She suddenly felt a pang of unease in her heart. She didn't know whether it was due to the high altitude or Seth's words.
"I've said I won't see him again. Why did you bring me here if you don't trust me?"
Seth's smile deepened at the corner of his mouth. "I never said it was him."
Josephine said, "But isn't that what

from being imprisoned by restricting my freedom. It's just that instead of being imprisoned by Lewis, I'm now in another cage."
"Seth, I don't like this. I'd rather die if you brought me out of Elysium to imprison me."
Seth stared at her intently, his smile fading slightly. The coldness in his eyes deepened. "You used to call me Alex."
Josephine felt a suppressed anger in her chest. She turned her head to look at the distant grasslands. "How can I call you that after all the things you've done?"
"Are you blaming me?" He suddenly leaned closer to Josephine. He pinched her chin and turned her face toward him. "Josephine, don't forget. It was your choice.
"You could have avoided all this suffering. None of this would have happened if Lewis had died back then. Or do you think I was wrong for seeking revenge for the Vance family?"
Josephine's gaze flickered. Faced with his pressing questions, she couldn't find the right words to answer. It was like when Lewis had asked her if she couldn't live without Seth.
The nature of the event itself wasn't wrong. The problem was she couldn't distinguish who was right or wrong.
Seth released her and smiled faintly. "Enough, let's not talk about this anymore. If you're bored, I'll have someone install a television in your room."
"Go back and rest. Prolonged
exposure to the wind isn't good for
your health. As for what you said, I don't agree. If you can go two years without contacting Lewis and without paying any attention to his news, I won't restrict your freedom."
After saying that, he smiled meaningfully. "I believe in you. You won't have any further dealings with your enemy, will you?"
He intentionally emphasized the word enemy as if reinforcing the walls around Josephine's heart.
As long as he kept reminding her that Lewis was her enemy, she would completely sever any attachment to that man.
