Passion 40
Xavier replied, "Got it."
Seeing him finally put down his work, Daphne couldn't help but ask, "Is Madam Shannon reminding us to come over again?"
Xavier answered impatiently, "No."
Daphne wanted to ask what it was about but before she could speak, she noticed that his gaze was fixed
outside the window.
The car was passing by Golden Moon Restaurant.
A Bentley had just pulled up outside the restaurant, and two figures were getting out of the car.
Xavier's eyes instinctively settled on Zachary. He was wearing a cap and a mask, making it hard to see his face, but Xavier felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity about him. Watching the two of them enter the restaurant, Xavier said to the driver, "Stop the car."
Daphne was puzzled. "What's wrong?"
Xavier didn't answer and got out of the car.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, Kiki felt a sudden urge to use the bathroom, so she called Yvette to come down and pick up Zachary.
Just as Yvette stepped out, she saw Xavier, dressed in a suit, walking straight toward her. Her palms began to sweat. She instinctively wanted to look away and leave. But Xavier spoke first. "What a coincidence."
Yvette had nowhere to hide and could only hope that Kiki and Zachary wouldn't come up at this
moment.
"Are you here for a meal too, Mr. Lane?" Yvette asked. "I have something to attend to, so I'll take my
leave."
Just as she was about to leave, she heard Kiki's voice. Yvvy."
Her heart skipped a beat.
Xavier had his back to the stairs. Kiki and Zachary only saw Yvette but not Xavier as they went upstairs.
That was why Kiki had greeted her.
Hearing this, Xavier turned to look at the two of them. Even though Zachary was wearing a mask, his eyes gave Xavier a strange sense of familiarity. The atmosphere suddenly grew silent.
Kiki felt a chill run down her spine.
Yvette held her breath, fearing that Zachary might call out to her.
To her surprise, Zachary ran up to her and called out, "Ms. Snyder!"
After speaking, he tugged on Kiki's hand. "Mom, I'm so hungry. Let's eat with Ms. Snyder."
Kiki snapped out of her daze and responded, "Uh, okay. Let's go eat. Come on, Yvvy." She held Zachary's hand and urged Yvette forward.
"Mr. Lane, I'm having dinner with my friend. I'll excuse myself now." With that, Yvette quickly led Kiki and Zachary into the private room.
Once the door was closed, the tension within Yvette finally eased a little.
Xavier didn't dwell on Zachary any longer. After going downstairs and settling their bill, he left. (1
Once Kiki was sure that he had left, she immediately engulfed Yvette in a big hug. "Yvvy! I'm so sorry. I didn't expect Xavier to be here."
Yvette gently patted her shoulder. "It's okay. I didn't expect him to be here either."
"Thank goodness Zac reacted quickly. Otherwise, the consequences would be disastrous." Kiki shuddered at the thought of Xavier's piercing gaze. Zachary gently comforted the two. "Mom, Kiki, don't worry. I know mom has to stay single in public
that you can find a daddy for me and Noah."
Yvette hugged him tightly. Her voice was choked with emotions. "Baby, I'm sorry you have to go through this!"Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
She felt sorry about not telling the truth to her children, but she didn't want to lose them.
Zachary's face turned red. "Mom, don't cry!"
As the older son, he had always been mature. He rarely asked Yvette for a hug like Noah did. But he finally realized just how comforting hugs could be. Yvette wiped her tears and gently flicked his forehead. "You can't act on your own anymore, or you'll get a spanking from me."
