The Fortune-Telling Heiress

Chapter 419

Tanya frowned. "Maddie, is that how you speak to your sister? She did it for your sake. She even pulled strings with the Riordan family to hire a very powerful expert. If not for that, you wouldn't have come back at all."

Madison's voice was calm but firm. "I'm asking where Yara and the others are?"

Tanya stepped forward, grabbed Madison's hand, and said earnestly, "Maddie, I know I made mistakes in the past, but we're family. What kind of family holds grudges? What I did before was all to help you and Becky get along. Besides, your temper is a bit problematic. But that's okay now."

She smiled brightly. "As long as you're not around those evil things, your personality will go back to normal. The expert said that those evil things have a strong influence on a person's temperament, even their destiny. As long as you stay away from them, we can be a family again."

She was full of hope as she looked at Madison. She genuinely believed that Madison's estrangement from the Locke family was because of the evil spirits she had been dealing with.

To her, Madison would revert to the obedient daughter she had once been once those evil spirits were out of the picture. Madison would be someone who needed her parents' love and guidance instead of someone who avoided them at all costs.

Seeing that she wasn't getting an answer, Madison released a burst of spiritual energy with her fingers, silently divining something. After a few seconds, she turned to Wanda and said, "Start the car."

Wanda immediately nodded and headed to the garage to get the car.Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

Tanya grabbed Madison's arm as Madison was about to leave, her confusion evident. "Maddie, where are you going?"

"To rescue them," Madison replied.

"They're not even human. They're evil spirits!" Tanya exclaimed.

Madison's voice was calm, and her tone was resolute. She said, "To me, all living beings are equal. Whether alive or dead, they deserve fairness as long as they haven't committed evil deeds."

Tanya held onto Madison tightly. "But the expert said they'll harm you! They're the reason you and I have grown apart. It's because of them that you hate me, that you hate the Locke family, and that you won't even come home." As she spoke, her eyes grew wet with tears.

Madison was her biological daughter, and the rift between them pained her deeply.

Seeing Tanya on the verge of tears, Madison gently pulled her hand away and quietly said, "I don't hate you. I don't hate the Locke family."

"Then, why won't you come home?"

Madison turned her gaze to Rebecca.

Tanya also looked at Rebecca, instinctively stepping in front of her as if shielding her from Madison. Her tone was urgent and confused. "Becky is your sister! Why are you always trying to push her out?"

Madison's response was unwavering. "It's her or me. If she stays, I won't."

Tanya stared at Madison in shock, unable to speak. Her hand tightly gripped Rebecca's.

Madison did not wait for a response. She turned and walked outside, quickly getting into the car. She gave Wanda directions on where to go. Meanwhile, Tanya stood frozen in place.

"Mom, we should hurry and follow her," Rebecca said gently. "What if Maddie offends the expert and he really releases those evil spirits? She might get hurt."

Tanya looked at Rebecca in disbelief. "Becky... After what Maddie just said, aren't you angry? Why are you still protecting her?"

Rebecca smiled helplessly. "Mom, even if Maddie doesn't treat me as a sister, I still see her as mine. As her elder sister, how can I be angry with her?

"If... If she really won't come back to the Locke family because of me, then leave. As long as it makes you happy and as long as it brings our family back together."
