The Fortune-Telling Heiress

Chapter 388

Avery looked at Madison with determination in his eyes. "I knew you'd come back."

He smiled smugly. "No one else can break the divine talismans except me. Moreover, a joint cultivation with me would also benefit you."

He stepped forward, taking Madison's hand and leading her toward the back of the hall.

But Madison forcefully pulled away and wore a serious expression. "I'm a cultivator. If I'm to conduct joint cultivation with you, I must at least have the recognition of heaven and earth! Do you really think you can casually carry out joint cultivation with me?" Avery was momentarily stunned by the angry Madison before bursting into laughter. "You mean you want to marry me under the witness of heaven and earth?"

Madison nodded solemnly. "Of course. Aren't you thinking the same?"

Avery stared at Madison in astonishment. As he observed her unwavering expression, the amusement in his eyes gradually faded, replaced by a cold demeanor.

"If we're not married, you won't carry out joint cultivation with me?"

"Correct."

Avery fell silent briefly. "You must understand that even if I give you more time, you won't be able to do anything to me."

But she remained resolute. "Marriage is a must."

Hearing this, he was dumbfounded.

Their eyes locked in silence.

Avery stared at Madison for a long time, and the coldness in his eyes slowly faded. He laughed heartily. "Alright! Since you want to get married, then let's get married. What kind of ceremony do you want?"

He waved his hand dismissively. "I've heard that there are both traditional and modern weddings in the human world. What do you want?"novelbin

"Traditional," Madison replied, fixing her gaze on Avery. "And I need my friends to be present to witness."

"Very well. I'll prepare the traditional bridal attire for you. Of course, your friends can come to witness the ceremony."

Avery turned to leave but paused halfway. He said, facing away from Madison, "I've lived for over a thousand years, and this is my first marriage. If anyone dares to disrupt it, I'll make sure they turn to dust." With that, he strode out of the hall. Madison slowly exhaled, gazing at the overcast sky outside. She hoped Erwin and Logan would be able to prepare everything quickly.

Avery was efficient. Half a day later, the entire Ghost Town knew that the Ghost King was getting married. The once gloomy Ghost Town was suddenly filled with festivity. The sentinel spirits drove away the wandering ghosts. They then hung lanterns and silk banners.

Madison sat in the room Avery had arranged with a frown. With a creak, the heavy wooden door was pushed open. A dozen sentinel spirits entered, holding the traditional bridal attire.

"The Ghost King asked us to come and dress the Ghost Queen."

Madison furrowed her brows.

That fast?

She asked, "Have my friends arrived yet?"

The sentinel spirits helped Madison change into her wedding attire, saying, "The Ghost King has invited all your friends, Ghost Queen. He reminded us that the wedding is a significant event; you only need to focus on completing the ceremony."

The pale-faced sentinel spirits were donned in bright red outfits, but they lacked any hint of joy, which only added to the eerie atmosphere. If an ordinary person were to witness this scene, they would have likely collapsed in fear, unable to move.

However, Madison allowed the sentinel spirits to dress her, style her hair, and adorn her.

Once everything was ready, one sentinel spirit squatted down to put the embroidered red shoes on Madison when a sudden voice interrupted. "I'll do it."

Madison looked up to see Avery standing at the doorway. He waved away the sentinel spirits and approached her.

He lifted her gown slightly, squatting down. One hand held the embroidered shoe while the other cradled Madison's foot, gently sliding it into the shoe. "Madison."

Avery lowered his head as he put on the other shoe for her. "It's my first marriage, and I hope everything goes smoothly."

Once both shoes were on, Avery looked up, momentarily stunned by Madison's beautifully adorned face.

Golden tassels hung on either side of her cheeks, swaying with her movements and occasionally brushing against her skin.

"As expected of my Ghost Queen, you're gorgeous."

He gently brushed his finger against Madison's cheek, then glanced at the various cosmetics on the table.

"The makeup style in the mortal realm has changed quite a bit over the years, but it's beautiful. If you want, you can buy as many cosmetics as you want in the future." Avery was tall. Even in a half-squatting position, he could meet Madison's gaze.
