The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday

Chapter 15

Kieran thought he could intimidate her with this, huh? Ridiculous. Facing Kieran, Freya suddenly laughed, "Just do it if you want to."

Not expecting such a bold response from the usually prim and proper Freya, Kieran furrowed his brows in confusion, "What did you say?"

"I said, bring it on." Freya replied nonchalantly, "So, Mr. Sutton, are you looking for a hobo or just a random passerby? A bodyguard or a secretary? Or perhaps... a kidnapper to drag me here?"

"Do you even know what you're talking about?" Kieran was trying to scare Freya a bit, but she wasn't showing any signs of fear.

He remembered the former Freya, who would blush and lower her head from his glance, finding the person before him almost unrecognizable.

"What? Mr. Sutton, do you have second thoughts? Well, if you're backing out, I'm leaving."

As Freya made to stand up, Kieran suddenly pressed down on her, immobilizing her.

Freya frowned, instinctively wanting to slap Kieran, but this time, he was prepared, blocking her raised hand with his left.

Freya struggled. "Kieran!"NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.

Freya's clothes were still damp, clinging to her skin and outlining her shapely figure.

Kieran pinned Freya beneath him, scoffing coldly, "Ms. Dawson, you always prided yourself on your high morals, didn't you? So, what's with the eagerness to throw yourself at me today? Freya, you're just trying to change how I see you. But cut out the coy games in front of me; they just make me sick."

"Sick?" Freya laughed as if she'd heard a joke, suddenly wrapping her arms around Kieran's neck and pulling herself closer. As their bodies touched, Kieran recoiled as if electrocuted, standing up and pushing Freya away without hiding the disgust in his eyes. Kieran said with disdain, "Freya, you're truly despicable!"

Hearing Kieran's judgment, Freya couldn't agree more. She was despicable. She was despicable for having given her all to Kieran in the past, willingly being used by him. After everything, all she got were his disdain and insults.

Rising from the bed, Freya casually adjusted her clothes, saying, "Kieran, believe it or not, the Freya from the past might have had feelings for you. But now, I can't care less. This engagement, I'm out. I'll leave you and Ms. Harwood the space." With that, Freya turned and left the room.

Secretary Jarrett walked in and asked, "Mr. Sutton, is Ms. Dawson serious about breaking off the engagement?"

Kieran snorted, "It's easy to say pretty words. She wouldn't be running to Grandma if she wanted to call it off." Secretary Jarrett asked, "So, Mr. Sutton, what's your plan?"

Kieran gritted his teeth. "Let's give her a taste of her own medicine and show her who she can mess with and can't." "Yes, Mr. Sutton."

It was midnight when Freya, who was still damp, took a cab back to the Dawson family. Johanna was making a fuss at home. Seeing Freya return, she rushed over, throwing a newspaper in Freya's face. "Freya! You've got some nerve coming back! Look at the mess you've made! I told you to make peace with Mr. Sutton, and now look! Mr. Sutton's ready to crush the Dawson family like it's nothing!"
