The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing

Chapter 18 Signing Up for the Club

Allison found out from Mia that Yasmin was the president of the school's AI club. What a twist of fate.

Allison had never been into school clubs. Being the world's top hacker, these school competitions were just too basic for her. With her skills, Allison's work in AI was way ahead of expert teams, and she had offers from multiple organizations. "Yasmin, you really want me to join?" Allison asked, locking eyes with Yasmin.

Yasmin's eyes went cold, but she kept that innocent smile. "Allison, of course, I want you to join. But you know, there's an assessment. If you can't pass, my hands are tied!"

To Yasmin, Allison was just a lazy student who slept through classes. How could someone like that ever compete with her? Yasmin wanted to be on top, looking down on Allison, making her realize she'd never measure up. "Alright, if that's what you want, I'll sign up. Mia, let's go!" Allison said.

Yasmin had a whole speech ready to humiliate Allison, but she didn't expect her to actually sign up. Yasmin frowned.

"What's the point of her signing up? Does she think she's that good? Yasmin, don't worry. With her skills, there's no way she'll pass!" the girl next to Yasmin said.

Yasmin knew nothing about Allison except that she had terrible grades at Maplewood High, always at the bottom. Yasmin didn't believe in miracles; she believed in hard work. She had spent years working tirelessly to surpass Allison and crush her.

Mia looked at Allison, worried. "Allison, are you sure? they have bad intentions."

Seeing Mia's concern, Allison smiled. "You'll see what kind of person she is soon enough. I don't really want to join the club, but she needs a wake-up call."

Allison hadn't forgotten the grudge from five years ago. If staying silent meant more bullying, she wasn't going to stay quiet anymore.

When she went to sign up, Magnus was surprised and asked, "Allison, are you sure? The AI club needs a certain foundation. Your grades might not be enough."

Magnus was being polite, considering Allison's grades. AI involved computer programming, and without a solid foundation, it was tough. More importantly, she needed experience in programming and some achievements. "I heard there's an assessment. How about a tutor assesses me? If I pass, let me join," Allison suggested.

Magnus nodded. "Sure. This afternoon, a tutor will assess you. Besides you, there are a few other students. If you pass, you're in!"

By lunchtime, word spread in the cafeteria that Allison wanted to join the club. Everyone thought she was overestimating herself and expected her to embarrass herself in the afternoon.

Mia almost got into a fight over it, but Allison stopped her. "Mia, chill out!"novelbin

After grabbing their food, Allison led Mia to a quiet corner to eat.

But Mia, with her fiery temper, couldn't let it go, especially after hearing those nasty comments. "Allison, they're too much!"

Allison nodded and handed Mia the drumstick. "Mia, remember, don't act on impulse. Only the weak argue over words. The truly strong never waste their breath!"

Mia didn't fully get it, but it sounded cool, so she smiled. "Got it!"

Yasmin watched them from a distance, a mocking smile on her lips. She couldn't wait to see Allison fail the test in the afternoon. With her so-called "skills," she'd only embarrass herself! Allison didn't care about the mockery around her. Only the weak cared about others' opinions.

In the last study period of the afternoon, Allison headed to the school's computer lab. The AI club tutor gave the students a task: write code and complete a piece of data according to his requirements.

For Allison, this was a breeze. After glancing at the program the tutor provided, she not only completed the task but also rewrote the entire program. While the other students started showing their results, Allison was still typing away. Someone sneered, "See, Yasmin. She can't even finish a simple task. Just wait till the teacher embarrasses her."

Yasmin didn't directly add fuel to the fire and said, "Don't say that. Allison does have some talent. She loved playing on the computer in middle school, and I couldn't beat her at computer games."

A girl chimed in, "Yasmin, you're too kind, defending this idiot. Have you forgotten how she drove Sophia away?"

Thinking of Sophia, Yasmin's eyes filled with malice.

When Allison finished, the tutor had just reviewed the other students' work. He was considering whom to choose.

Seeing Allison approach, the tutor frowned. "Allison, I noticed it took you a bit longer to complete the program. Let's work together to improve your speed, so you can fully enjoy and contribute to the club." The tutor was being polite. But Allison didn't budge.

"Sir, shouldn't you look at my results before making a conclusion?" Allison said.

The tutor was impatient and had an even worse impression of Allison. But in front of so many students, he couldn't just dismiss her without looking, even if it was a mess.

With this mindset, the tutor walked over to Allison. After carefully checking her work, he was astonished. "Did you write all this?"

Allison nodded, and soon the classroom was filled with discordant voices.

"I told you, she doesn't know anything about programming!"

"Yeah, she's just wasting the time! Allison, go back to class and be a fool. Why come out and embarrass yourself?"

The two speaking were Yasmin's friends. Yasmin never did anything herself; she was best at using others to do her dirty work.

Allison ignored them, but Mia couldn't stand it and shot back, "The teacher hasn't made a conclusion yet. I think you're just jealous of Allison's abilities!"
