Tasting The Enemy

Chapter 14

Elaine POV

The sun hung loosely in the sky when I got home, casting an orange hue over the pack. It was better to meet Azaire under the cover of the stars. Most of the cars in the parking lot were gone except for a family red sports car.

“What’s Quin doing here?” I asked.

We hadn’t spoken since the incident at school. I had no desire to chase after her as if nothing was wrong. There was too much going on in my life. I met her by the corner bar in the living room.

“Quin? What’s up?” I asked.

“Nothing,” she said churning her cocktail at the corner bar of the living room. “I’m looking for Blazer.”

“Why?”

She frowned. “It’s the last football game of the school year. We have to make sure it’s amazing. Have you forgotten you signed up to make the banners at school?”

Holy crap.

“I completely forgot-”

She lifted a shoulder. “Figures.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“You’re a fool Elaine and you want everyone around you to look like idiots too.”

I gasped my blood heating up.

“Neel made a total fool of two packs at the ball. The Blood Moon wolves loved it.”

“Why are you treating me like this? First I’m a slut now this?”

She slipped off the stool and closed the gap between us quickly.

“I’m fed up. Fed up of kissing the Alpha’s ass because of you. Have you ever looked in the mirror? You’re not popular, you don’t even try. I’m tired of carrying your dead weight.”

“I never asked you to,” I snapped.

“So? I did what I had to maintain popularity.”

I nodded. It made sense and deep down I knew. She was the pack beta’s daughter but it wasn’t good enough. Not in her eyes.

“You were only friends with me because of who my father is.”

“I did you a favour,” she smirked.

At least the air was clear between us. I lifted my chin.

“Blazer’s not here so come back when he is. Bye.”

She gasped but I didn’t wait to hear her screech. I went into the kitchen and left out the back door. I wanted to change into something nice when I met Azaire but I didn’t care. Deep down I knew she was using me but I got comfortable. I let her use me like I’m letting my Father use me.

“Not anymore.”

There’s a large packet of wolf enhancers at work. I know they’re illegal but I’ll use that to get through the full moons.

“There you are,” Azaire said. His voice caught me off guard.

I ground to a halt and clutched my chest.

“Geez.”

“Lost in your head, Princess?”

He peeled himself off the rock he leaned on. He was fully clothed this time. He walked up to me and cupped my cheeks. He eyed me up and down and then side to side.

“Are you okay?” He asked.

“Yeah.”

“Then what’s wrong Elaine? I should be training but every time you’re involved I drop everything.”

I chewed my bottom lip. Azaire smirked.

“Don’t do that. It’s a turn-on.”

Shivers rattled up my spine and I pulled away from him. This was serious business.

“Okay, I found enhancers at work…” I couldn’t tell him I used them without revealing I had a defective wolf.

“What?” He barked. “Are they still there?”

“No… they went to Evangeline Hotel. I opened the box and they’re going to know someone found out about it.” Not to mention they’ll know one’s missing so I might be in danger.

He grabbed me and held me in place. “Tell me everything now.”

I relayed the events leaving out a few details. By the time I was done, we sat on the sand and watched the water come inches to our shoes.

“Why didn’t you tell your brothers?” Azaire asked.

I listened to the sound of the waves. I didn’t trust my brothers and my Father was even worse.

“Because you’re my mate.”

Azaire took my hand and pulled me into an embrace.

“This is difficult but I know one thing for certain.”

“What’s that?” I asked.

He pushed me on the sand and hovered over me.

“I want to kiss you.”

Azaire captured my lips in a hungry kiss. Dove came alive within me in a beautiful glow. I wrapped my arms around him and dragged him closer. I felt his dominant Alpha wolf show my wolf his possessive nature. I felt his desire in the way he kissed me and caressed my skin.

Thank goodness it was dark. I’d never felt this intense need to have sex with someone. I pulled his shirt over his head and kissed him fiercely. Azaire grabbed my thighs and wrapped my legs around his waist. I felt the swell of his member. Panic settled in and I pushed him back. I wanted him badly but I was still inexperienced.

“Whoa,” I panted.

I still felt his member pressed against my inner thigh.

“You okay?”

“I’m… perfect.”

Was I going to give myself to Azaire? He was my mate it was natural. It was a risky move because if our families found out about us they could break us apart.

“Elaine if we do this there’s no going back.” His tone held sincerity.

I had so many unanswered questions but I wanted to be with him. I know I’d feel completeness I didn’t know existed.

“I know-” His phone rang and interrupted us.

Azaire groaned. “Fuck.” He straightened up and pulled out his phone.

“What?” He barked. “What?” He roared and stood.

“How the hell did that happen?”

I sat up. My underwear was drenched down to my work shorts, my cheeks were hot and my wolf was agitated. I should have mentioned this would be my first time to have sex but judging by the way Azaire cursed at the sky we wouldn’t be going any further.

“How could Oliver allow this to happen? I’m on my way.”

He grabbed his shirt off the ground.

“You need to go home. Now.”

I stared at him.

“What happened?”

“Your brothers went to our territory and provoked us.”

I swallowed. “Are they okay?”NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.

“I don’t give a damn! I’ve got injured wolves to handle.”

“I give a damn. They’re my brothers,” I said, standing.

He ground his teeth and cursed. “Leave. I’ve got men to take care of. I should have been there.”

My blood boiled. He regretted coming to see me. Did he blame me?

“You can be so infuriating!”

“Yeah? You didn’t think so seconds ago when you were trying to swallow me.”

I gasped. “I was not!”

My face burned with embarrassment it even hurt.

I spun. “I’m going.”

He grabbed my arm and brought me back. “The football game. Remember?”

After a few seconds of silence, Azaire tugged me closer.

“Right, Elaine?”

“Yes, fine. I have to go my brothers need me.”

“There isn’t much you can do for them,” he said.

That’s where he was wrong. They were losing their heads wondering where I was so I could heal them.
