Sorry Sir I Don’t Want You Back Chapter 17
CEO.
In the bustling city center of Country B, the employees of a particular company were filled with gossip. Neil, having been a competent and most trusted PA of Julian Alster, had already gathered all the executives at the entrance of the building to welcome their new "I wonder what our CEO looks like," a female employee gossiped with her friends.
"I hope he's a handsome man like Julian Alster or Hudson Amery," another replied with a giggle.
"But why hasn't he shown himself up until now?"
"Yeah, no one has seen him yet until now. He always works behind the scenes."
They kept gossiping until a stretch limo arrived, and a handsome man stepped out from the door on the other side of the car, wearing a black fitted suit. His striking facial features left all the female employees dumbfounded; even all the executives were surprised. "Oh my God! Is Logan Jennings our CEO?" one of the female employees squealed with delight, which caused the other employees to join in the excitement.
Even being from Country C, Logan was as well-known as Julian and Hudson. He was a powerful CEO, just like the other two: Julian Alster, the most powerful CEO of Country A; Hudson Amery, the most powerful CEO of Country B; and Logan Jennings, the most powerful CEO of Country C. Everyone from all over the world knew about them.
Amidst all the excitement from employees and executives, Logan surprised them by going around the car and opening the door before stretching out his hand like a perfect Prince Charming.
Everyone was puzzled, but then they saw a slender hand putting itself on his palm and a black high-heeled stiletto followed by a long, slim leg clad in white pants.
The moment the person exited the car, everyone was dazzled by her beauty. Cherise stood elegant and calm in her white power suit with a thin black belt around her waist, accentuating her slim waist. Her hair was pulled back and tied into a ponytail, with only diamond earrings and necklace as accessories, looking like a lady boss despite her youthful appearance.
Everyone was thinking who she was. Logan Jennings had never been seen in the company of any woman. Could this beautiful lady be his lady companion? No, it couldn't be. He wouldn't bring her to the company if she were just his lady companion, especially as they would have a shareholder meeting this morning.
Looking at her professional attire, could she be his assistant? But seeing the tender gaze he gave her, could she be....his girlfriend?
Neil quickly went to them, led them to the executives, and introduced Cherise. Everyone was still thinking that Logan would be their CEO and Cherise was his girlfriend.
"This is Miss Cherise, Angelworld Jewelry's CEO from this moment on," Neil said, deliberately concealing her last name as per Cherise's order, and his announcement nearly made everyone present stand frozen in shock.
Cherise swept her gaze across the executives and employees, offered them a faint smile, and walked confidently straight into the building with Logan walking beside her and Neil respectfully showing her the way to the conference room.
The executives and shareholders finally snapped back to their senses once Cherise, Logan, and Neil disappeared into the elevator while the female employees gossiped even more.
Entering the conference room, Cherise sat on the main CEO seat while Logan sat on her right, and Neil stood behind him. Looking at the carefully planned room, with reports already placed on the table in front of each seat, Cherise turned her head to look at Neil and smiled, "You did a great job, Neil."
"This is my job, Miss Cherise. Mr. Julian had asked me to assist you in your job," Neil said as he adjusted his glasses.
Cherise chuckled, looking at his professional and cold demeanor. "I think you've been with my brother for too long that you've become like a cold CEO," she teased him.
Neil's ears turned slightly red, but he maintained his composure. "Mr. Julian has been kind to me," he replied simply.
Cherise smiled and looked at the door as it opened, and the shareholders and other executives came into the room and took their respective seats.
She started off by asking the executives to report about their departments as she sat there watching and listening intently. Although she was seated languidly and calmly, her domineering aura could still be felt by everyone present; even the older shareholders were kind of impressed by it.
Cherise realized Logan had managed the company well. Their finance reports and everything else were balanced, with no errors or anyone embellishing the company's money.
When it was time to the part of presentation of Angelworld Jewelry's current cooperation, Cherise smirked when she heard the words 'La Jewel'.
Logan's lips curved slightly when he noticed it. He knew it was time for Cherise to take her revenge on Hudson. As he had expected, the moment everyone had finished their reports, the first words that came out from Cherise's mouth were about their cooperation with 'La Jewel'.
"Everyone has done a great job," Cherise praised them with a smile on her face, and everyone let out a breath of relief. It seemed their new CEO wouldn't be a killer boss. "But," Cherise continued, "there are some things I'd like to change. I want Angelworld to terminate our contract with 'La Jewel"."
Cherise words made everyone frown. La Jewel was part of the Amery's company. If they terminated the contract, not only would they have to pay a heavy contract termination price, but they also might fall off with the Amery, which was not something a small company like Angelworld Jewelry could afford, even if it was a subsidiary of the Alster Group.
Everyone who at first was impressed by Cherise now all thought that she was reckless and had no idea how to manage a company.
"Miss Cherise, it won't be a good idea to terminate the contract," a shareholder spoke up and the rest agreed with him.
"You might not know it, but La Jewel is part of Amery Group, and we've been having successful cooperation with them since three years ago," the shareholder continued.
Cherise rolled her eyes inwardly. Of course, she knew. That was why she wanted to stop their cooperation. No one knew that for the past three years, Cherise had been using her design under Erika's name to help La Jewel.
Angel was another of her secret identities - a renowned jewelry designer who had never shown her face and only designed a few pieces of jewelry each year, and they were all worth a lot. Not everyone who had money could buy her designs due to their limited quantity.
Erika was also great at designing jewelry. Everyone knew her name, though she seldom appeared as Erika Sterling, the jewelry designer.
If not for her, La Jewel wouldn't have many intricate jewelry designs and wouldn't be as successful as it was now. La Jewel was the one who needed Angelworld Jewelry and not the other way round. Now that they were divorced, she saw no point in helping him. Especially because her latest design was for couples. She had designed it with Hudson in mind, hoping they could wear a matching wedding band one day since he never gave her any.
"And the penalty for breaching a contract with them is also high." All the shareholders kept trying to persuade her to change her mind. They didn't want to cut off their relationship with the most influential group in Country B.
"Don't worry about it. I'll bear the loss myself," Cherise said with a calm smile. She'd rather be scolded by her grandpa than give that special collection to La Jewel.
Seeing the restless shareholders and executives, Logan decided to speak up. "Jennings Group will take over the cooperation."
Everyone looked at him in surprise. Even Cherise was surprised. Logan squeezed her hand under the table and gave her a smile before looking at the others.
"I don't think Jennings Group is worse than Amery Group, are we?" he said smoothly, his fox eyes curved up slightly as if in amusement. "We can widen Angelworld Jewelry's scope to Country C."
Logan's words swayed the shareholders' doubts. Even if La Jewel was a part of Amery Group, their products were mainly marketed for the local market, and the thought of making their companies well-known in other countries was very tempting.
"I can help in terminating the contract with the Amery Group and draft a new contract with Angelworld Jewelry as Jenning Groups' CEO immediately," he continued.
With his reassurance, all the shareholders finally agreed to the termination and new contract.
Once the meeting was over, Cherise turned to look at Logan.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
