Chapter 35
XANDER
I was going through the report that was sent in earlier when Lord Williams came into the room. I looked up from the reports and gave him a questioning look.
“What is going on?” I asked as he strolled into my study room.
He leaned his back on the wall as he stared out through the window as if he was watching someone and I glared at him. I couldn’t see who he was looking at from the angle I was sitting, but I could sense th: something was wrorig.
“I just got a word from the man you put on Alpha Luxwell,” he said and I nodded, waiting for him to continue.
You were right. He said Alpha Luxwell has been making secret arrangements, but he couldn’t report earlier because he doesn’t know what he was planning”
“And” I furrowed my eyebrows
“Turns out that Alpha Luxwell and his men have been preparing for war. They planned to attack us when we least expect it.” he said and I felt a surge of anger course through my veins from the news.
Who the hell does he think he is to even dream of attacking my pack?
That idiot is so predictable. I knew he would do something since he had been too quiet since the event happened. Alpha Luxwell is a lousy person and everyone knows how he does his things
He must have felt insulted from the humiliation and wanted to retaliate. Not that I wasn’t expecting it though. His choice was pretty obvious when he refused to apologize. I just didn’t think he would be brave enough to attempt to go on a war with me
He is begging to be killed.
I knew how he always ran his mouth and I wouldn’t be surprised if I heard he was spreading the news around, but now that he was about to take action. I was surprised by his gut and sudden confidence, and also thrilled to teach him a lesson
Never in his life would he dare to insult me like that ever again. I am going to teach him an unforgettable lesson
“Alpha, why are you not saying anything! We shouldn’t take this with levity hands. We both know Alpha Luxwell doesn’t stand a chance against us, but even at that, they will have the upper hand if we fail to prepare ourselves, Lord Williams pointed.
“Who said I’d allow him to invade my pack without paying for a I raised an eyebrow as he cleared his throat.
“My apologies, but we do not have time to waste. According to the man, there is a probability that they would be attacking today. If they want to take us by surprise, it will definitely be in the night. We should do something to stop them”
I gave Lord Williams a look as I thought about how to counter back those bastards. It’s not just about protecting my people. They’d be crossing the line the moment they stepped their feet on my territory. They can not leave in one piece.
“Gather our men. I want to have a word with them” I command
Lord Williams gave me a questioning look but he didn’t say anything instead, he nodded and went ahead to gather the men as I had ordered
I paced around the room angrily, too angry to even continue with what I was doing when Lord Williams came back
“They are waiting outside, Alpha”
Lead the way I ordered as 1 stormed out of the room.
True to his words, the guards were already waiting outside. They owed as soon as they noticed me and I went straight to the point
Prepare for defence. Our pack would be under attack soon, Larounced, and they looked at each other nervously
I can see the shock on their faces as they begin to murmur in didelief.
“I want every single member of the pack to be protected. Be well guard and be at alert. No one goes in or comes out of here today” I said.
“Yes. Alpha” The chorned.
1 looked between every one of them and I reminded myself of why everyone feared me. It was because no one dared to cross me and make it out alive.
I am going to deal with Alpha Luxwell and his men.

All I have been doing since I moved into Alpha Xander’s room was sleep and wake up. Boredom was killing me and I was starting to feel suffocated in here. It felt like I was in a prison and I honestly don’t know much was worse
I can’t breathe without having eyes around me. If it wasn’t Alpha Xander, then it was one other person who was already waiting outside to tell me to go back inside because the Alpha had ordered for it.
At least I have Claudia to speak to on different occasions while I was in my previous room, right now, I have no one and I have never felt so lonely in my entire life.
He thinks he is protecting me by keeping me here, but I might just end up dying of loneliness before he even realised what he was doing.
I lay on the bed, as I stared at the ceiling when I began to hear voices from the hallway and different footsteps. It was strange because it felt like the footsteps belonged to a group of people from the continuous match but guards are not allowed to walk around except from the maids and they rarely move together.
Something feels wrong.
I stood up and went to the balcony to see what was happening outside when I saw soldiers gathered outside.
What is going on?
They all had serious expression on their faces and I could tell whatever was happening must have been serious to have all of them looking so worried and at alert.
My curiosity got the best of me and I went out of the room to find out what was happening. I stepped out of the room and saw everyone running, around, which made me even more curious. Something is definitely wrong
“Hey, I called a maid who walked past me at that moment and she stopped to look at me. “Do you know why everyone looked so tensed? What is going on? Is there a problem?” I asked as I looked down the hallway to see everyone rushing to do one thing or the other.
“A war is about to break down and everyone is trying to ensure their safety,” she said, taking me by surprise.
“A— a war?” I stammered and my heart skipped a beat at the sound of the news. I have never witnessed a war before in history, I knew it never really ended well and seeing how everyone was a complete mess right now, I bet this isn’t going to be a simple war or maybe they are not the ones who have the upper hand.
Fear gripped down on me and I tried to control myself when the maid’s voice snapped me out of my truce.
“Everywhere is in chaos so I think it’s best for you to go back inside. The Alpha seems to be in a pretty bad mood,” she said and I nodded.
I went back to the room anxiously but I couldn’t bring myself to relax. I couldn’t think straight while I was with the maid and now, I suddenly have so many questions.
Which pack are they going to war with? Are we under an attack? What is with the sudden attack? Everything seems to be fine just yesterday. What the hell happened overnight?
1 had so many questions ringing in my head but there was no one to give me any answer. War has been predictable and I don’t know what to expect.
What if we lose? What is going to happen to me? Will another pack take me as a slave again? That is if I didn’t even get killed before then.
My body trembled with fear as different vicious thoughts erupted in my mind.
I paced around the room nervously, unable to think straight when Alpha Xander came in with two other men.
I wanted to rush over to his side and ask him for a proper explanation of what was going on, but I knew that would be crossing my boundaries.
His expression was stoic and he looked unapproachable at the moment and the look was enough to send chills down my spine
The situation must have been pretty bad if he was looking like this.
He looked at me for a split second with a cold face before turning to his men.
“Watch over her and protect her with your lives. She is carrying the pack’s heir and nothing is to happen to her. Do not let her out of your sight for a second, am I clear?” He frowned and they nodded.
I knew I meant nothing to him but a burden he had to look over until I gave birth to his child, but that doesn’t make me feel any better.
I hated how was treating me like an object, even though I knew that was exactly what I meant to him.
He turned to leave without another word, making me worry about what the outcome of the war would be.
