Chapter 3408
"I heard from Duncan that he and Liberty plan to register their marriage after Christmas and only hold a wedding once Liberty has more free time. Derek and I've been preparing gifts for them and picking a date.”
The gifting would have to wait until Liberty was back in Wiltspoon to receive them. Now, she was so busy that even her son had been left to Serenity to help take care of. Ever since she left for Jensburg, she had not been back to Wiltspoon. It was always Duncan bringing Sonny to Jensburg to visit. Naturally, their wedding would not be held that soon.
"Liberty was even thinking of not holding a wedding, saying that it doesn't matter because it's her second marriage. That won't do. We can't deprive her of anything. Not only do we have to hold a wedding, we have to hold an extravagant one for her." Corey did not want to deprive both Liberty and her son of a celebration.
Of her four sons, when the first three got married, they each held grand weddings. Now that it was her youngest and only unmarried son's turn, Corey would disagree with not having a wedding even if Duncan was fine with it. None of the Lewises would.
Of course, Duncan was not willing to just leave it at the registration of their marriage and was insistent on having a wedding. He wanted everybody to know Liberty was very happy and specifically wanted the Browns to know that it was their loss for looking down on and abandoning Liberty back then. Let them regret it.
"Let's set aside the talk of marriage for now. You know why Liberty went to Jensburg, right?" Audrey asked. "If Liberty took over Fisher Enterprise and the Fisher family, Duncan would have to marry into the family and their future daughters would have to be surnamed Fisher. You know that, right? What are your thoughts about this? If you can't accept that, I think—"
Corey hurriedly interrupted, "Audrey, there's no need to think about it. Don't even. They can't break up. Duncan would die for Liberty. If you make them break up, it'll kill him. So what if he has to marry into her family? I have four sons anyway. I still have three others even if he technically marries out of our family.
“Besides, it's not like I'll stop being his mother if he does. He'll still be my son. He'll just spend more time with her family than with mine and my granddaughter will still be my granddaughter even if she doesn't carry the Lewis surname. It's just a surname. We're not that traditional-Liberty's the one who has to carry the baby, who cares if she takes her mother's surname?"
Corey then asked, "Is Liberty planning to change her surname?"
"If she does take over the Fisher family and all it entails, she will have to change it."
Serenity would not have to, though. She would remain a Hunt.
Corey hummed in acknowledgment. "Those are the family rules. Liberty must change her surname. Audrey, our whole family has and will not have anything to say about it. We fully respect the Fisher family rules.”All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
She did not want her son to go mad again. Duncan, was still unable to walk normally. If she objected to him being with Liberty and asked them to break up, she dared not imagine how crazy her son would get. Her son marrying out of the family and her granddaughters not bearing the last name Lewis was much more acceptable in comparison.
Derek repeatedly nodded in agreement as he said, "We respect their choice and the Fisher family rules. You don't have to worry about us objecting."

were largely based in Wiltspoon. Liberty had business in Wiltspoon too while Serenity and Audrey resided here. If Liberty truly became the Fisher matriarch, she would have to return to Wiltspoon often.

It was not like they would no longer be able to see their son once he married out of the family. That was why the husband-and-wife pair persuaded themselves early on to remain open-minded as long as Duncan and Liberty could be happy together. They already had many grandchildren and it was not a big deal if one of their granddaughters were not a Lewis. It was acceptable.
