Reckless Marriage Unyielding Love

Chapter 174

Anna had her arms wrapped around Elvis, leaning into his embrace with her head nestled against his strong chest, looking utterly blissful. Meanwhile, Juliet sat in the car and pursed her lips as she watched the two indulge in their public display of affection.

'Seriously, could you two be any more lovey-dovey? How about taking it somewhere else?' Juliet muttered inwardly. It was rather annoying to witness such lovey-dovey moments even for someone already in a relationship.

If Anna's previous thoughts were just assumptions, Elvis not pushing her away now said it all, didn't it? It couldn't be any clearer.

"Drive me home or I'll kiss you." Anna's soft voice rang out within Elvis's embrace. In the open setting, Elvis heard her loud and clear.

"Do you know what I hate the most, Ms. Woods?" Elvis's voice was cold, sending shivers down Anna's spine in his arms.

"Just once. Can't you?" Anna lifted her chin, her enchanting eyes looking into Elvis's deep brown ones. He was like poison, easy to lure people in, easy to bury them in a bottomless pit. She was drawn to his aura of aloofness.

Elvis distanced himself from her and sat in his black Cayenne. Anna felt a sense of relief. Following him in her high heels, she, too, got into Elvis's

car.

Once they were on the road, Juliet finally snapped back and started her own car. 'At least they didn't stay too long, or I might have seriously considered bumping into them. But think about it... It would truly be a wonder if Elvis actually dated Anna. Two people are in a car together. What will happen next?' Juliet mused.

Juliet curbed her curiosity and drove away.

Anna, sitting in the back row with Elvis, was unable to contain her excitement. It was the first time she had ridden in Elvis's car, and to top it off, Elvis was with her. Even though her actions might seem a bit audacious, she had no regrets. When it came to fighting for what she liked, nothing was off- limits.

"Ms. Woods, where do you live?" Liam, seated in the driver's seat, asked Anna through the rearview mirror. He couldn't quite figure out what was going on in Elvis's mind.

Just earlier, Elvis had rejected Anna with a very firm attitude. Yet today when Anna came to see Elvis, he actually exchanged a few words with her. Later, when Anna hooked arms with Elvis, he was about to intervene, but Elvis signaled him not to do anything. What happened next was truly mind- boggling to him. He didn't know what was going on. Of course, as a subordinate, he dared not ask too much, only guessing in his mind. After Anna told him the address, she turned to Elvis, asking a question that she had been holding inside, "Elvis, do you like that woman?" Elvis withdrew his cold gaze from outside the window. His voice was icy. "I don't like anyone. Not you, not her."

"Really?" Obviously, Anna didn't think this was a satisfactory answer.

"So, Ms. Woods, don't come looking for me anymore," Elvis spoke directly, as always.

"Elvis, since you don't have a girlfriend, and I don't have a boyfriend either, why don't we give it a shot? If it doesn't work out, I'll give up," Anna suggested earnestly.

Elvis's deep gaze was like ice, devoid of any human emotion. "Ms. Woods, don't test my limits any further."

He would never develop feelings for any woman in his lifetime. Whether it was in Septem Nightclub or outside just now, he was only pretending to be with Anna to let Kashton see. He had no intention of getting involved with Juliet. Absolutely not.

Upon hearing Elvis's words, Anna refrained from saying more.

The car soon arrived at the residential area where she lived. Anna got out of the car, and Elvis said nothing. The black Cayenne vanished into the distance. Anna fixed her gaze on the direction the car disappeared, determined inwardly. 'I won't give up so easily no matter what.'

The next morning, Mikayla woke up to find hickeys all over her body again. Her clothes had been stripped off and scattered on the ground. She thought, 'If it weren't for my period, even my undies would have been gone.'

Her flawless skin still bore the hickeys from before, now overlaid with fresh ones. Initially, Mikayla had resisted, but soon, she just couldn't be bothered anymore. She fell asleep before Carlos did, not knowing when he had slept, but at least he seemed quite content.

Soon enough, when she was still half-asleep, she felt his satisfied breath beside her. Carlos always liked falling asleep while cradling her, her head resting on his arm, his other hand gently placed over her chest. It had been awkward for her at first. Used to sleeping solo, being ensconced in his embrace made it hard to drift off. But gradually, she got accustomed to it. In his arms, breathing in his scent, she found her sleep deepening. Mikayla casually put on a piece of clothing and got up, only to notice a note placed on the bedside table. [Mikayla, have to leave early. I've asked Josiah to be your driver this morning. See you tonight-Carlos.] His handwriting matched his personality-strong and confident. His penmanship was quite beautiful.

'No need to add the evening part,' Mikayla thought.

Mikayla quickly got dressed and freshened up her face with skincare and light makeup. Then she headed downstairs. As usual, she glanced at that spot. Habits were scary. It was the first time Carlos had left early, and she already felt out of sorts.

Dexter was busy cleaning when Mikayla came downstairs. Quickly, he set down what he was holding and brought out breakfast for her. Mikayla walked over and glanced at the stack of plane tickets that Dexter had placed on the table.

The tickets had Carlos's name on them.

"These are the tickets Mr. Ludwig bought before and after your wedding. I've been busy organizing things around the residence lately and haven't had a chance to deal with them," Dexter said as he placed breakfast on the table.

"So many?" asked Mikayla.

"Yes. To make sure everything was perfect, Mr. Ludwig had to fly multiple times a day to prepare for the wedding, going to various places. During that time, the only place he could sleep was on the plane." Dexter put away the tickets. "Mr. Ludwig really loves you."

Mikayla's mind was filled with mixed emotions. Back then, everyone saw the luxury of the wedding, but not even she had thought about what Carlos had sacrificed behind the scenes.
