PHB 97
After waking up from his long slumber a while ago, Lucas immediately called the medical team to examine Deasy’s condition.
Since he was allowed to watch, Lucas continued to observe how the doctor was currently examining each of his wife’s bodily functions and ensuring that everything was in good condition.
“How is it, doc?” Lucas asked after the doctor finished the examination.
“Congratulations, Mr. Lucas. Finally, Mrs. Deasy is fully conscious. After reevaluation, I can assure you that her condition is very good and normal. For the time being, let her undergo intensive treatment in the hospital for a day or two. If her progress continues to be good, there’s a possibility she can come home soon.”
After hearing the doctor’s explanation, Lucas hurriedly approached Deasy, who was lying down. Without saying much, the shadowy-eyed man immediately embraced her. He held her tightly, as if pouring out the longing that had accumulated so high in the past few days.
Previously, he had been sad and stressed when Deasy wouldn’t wake up despite his repeated attempts to talk to her.
Until, out of nowhere, he spontaneously issued a threat. Who knows, perhaps the threat of marrying another woman was heard by Deasy’s subconscious mind, and shortly thereafter, she finally woke up from her deep sleep.Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
“I missed you so much,” Lucas whispered while continuing to hug her. If she weren’t sick, Lucas would want to hug her and roll around with her.
“I missed you too, Luc,” Deasy replied in a half-whisper. Slowly but surely, her strength began to return.
Lucas then released the hug. He lifted his face and stared at Deasy intently. He chose not to say a word and instead opted to savor the moment of his wife looking at him.
“Lucas Orion, are you crying?” Deasy deliberately teased. Instead of feeling touched, she laughed shortly after seeing Lucas shed tears. “Why are you crying, huh? You’re so sensitive.”
Lucas pouted. A small chuckle escaped his lips. Clearly, he was feeling emotional, yet he was being asked why he was crying. How strange!
“You’re really mean, you know that?”
Deasy squinted. She slightly pulled her face back and immediately protested.
“Why mean? What did I do that’s mean? Aren’t you the one who’s mean? Threatening to marry Devina and all?”
Look.
No one just wakes up from a deep sleep and starts talking at length. Lucas, who was initially annoyed and had put on a resentful expression, couldn’t help but laugh.
He then remembered how he had playfully threatened Deasy out of frustration because she wouldn’t wake up and responded to his words. But who would have thought that after making the threat, his wife would wake up, and now they could be together again. It really worked.
“Just kidding, Honey.”
“But, I’m serious, Luc. I’ll skin your older sister alive if she dares to do anything, especially if she even thinks about getting married again.”
Lucas looked horrified. Clearly, he had just woken up, but Deasy had already shown her fangs.
“Oh God, I wasn’t serious. I was just joking. You were sleeping for so long, and I had no idea how crazy and stressed I was waiting for you. I was so afraid that you-”
“-Wouldn’t wake up?” Deasy interrupted as if she knew what her husband was going to say. “Don’t worry, I would never leave you, Luc.”
Lucas nodded with a smile. He took Deasy’s wrist again and repeatedly kissed it.
“Please, just don’t make me sad and worried like this anymore. I don’t want anything to happen to you. I could go crazy, Des.”
“Are you really afraid of losing me?”
Lucas held her hand and playfully flicked Deasy’s forehead without hesitation, even though he knew she had just regained consciousness.
“Lucas! That hurts!” complained Deasy as she rubbed her forehead.
“Deal with it! Besides, you already know that I might go crazy worrying about you, and now you’re asking if I’m afraid of losing you or not. You’re really something!”
Deasy, who had been annoyed, immediately burst into laughter. Seeing Lucas getting irritated, she tried to calm him down.
“Who wants to pass out, Luc? Besides, I’m fine now. So why are you still sad?”
“It’s because I’m scared, Des.”
Deasy smiled faintly. She hadn’t wanted to go through a condition like this either. Fortunately, God was on her side, restoring her consciousness and now giving her the chance to reunite with her family.
“So, where is our child?” Deasy asked later. She had just realized and was curious to see the baby she had taken care of in her belly with great effort.
Lucas then got up, walked out of the room, and returned shortly with the baby in his arms. Veronica and Darwin, who were curious to visit, also accompanied him.
“This is our child,” Lucas said as he approached and gently placed the baby next to Deasy. “As we planned, I’ve already named our baby Jonas Fernando Morales.”
Deasy nodded and shed tears unconsciously. In her heart, she was thankful that God had given her the opportunity to reunite. And now, she could hold the little angel she had been eagerly waiting for.
“Jonas…” Deasy whispered. “You’re so handsome, my dear,” she said softly as she gently caressed Jonas’ cheek while he was sleeping.
“Oh, definitely,” Lucas replied playfully. “His father is incredibly handsome like this. How could his child not be good-looking?”
Deasy rolled her eyes, then turned to look at Veronica, who was standing next to Lucas.
“Ve…” Deasy called.
“Yes, I’m here. Congratulations, you’re now a real mother.”
Deasy nodded emotionally. After many obstacles, challenges, and struggles, she could finally experience the boundless happiness of being together and building a beautiful family with Lucas. And now, it was even more perfect because they had Jonas in their lives.
“Thank you…” Deasy whispered softly. Her eyes welled up as if about to shed tears. “Thank you for taking me to the hospital when I was bleeding. If it weren’t for you, I don’t know what would have happened to me.”
“So, you’re not going to thank me?”
Before Veronica could respond, Darwin, who was also there, spoke up. He intentionally lightened the mood to prevent it from becoming too emotional.
“Do I really need to thank you so much?” Deasy replied sarcastically as usual. She didn’t know when she could be gentle with Veronica’s husband. “Don’t feel special. You’re not fried rice or martabak, Win.”
“Come on! Don’t be so arrogant, Des. Just so you know, you owe me your life twice now.”
Deasy furrowed her brow, wondering about Darwin’s statement regarding owing her life.
“What did you do that I owe you my life?”
Darwin shrugged and nudged Veronica intentionally, prompting his wife to explain his statement.
“Come on, honey, explain to Deasy so she understands.”
Veronica sighed. She nudged her husband back, then turned to Deasy to clarify her husband’s words.
“Please, dear, explain it to Deasy so she’ll realize.”
“What happened, then?” Deasy asked, curious.
“Yesterday, you had heavy bleeding, Des. You even fainted, and once again, you needed a blood transfusion. Since Darwin was here at the hospital, he donated his blood for you again. It’s because your blood types are rare and the same. Instead of going through the trouble of finding another donor, we just used what was available.”
Darwin appeared quite proud of himself. He was very satisfied to see Deasy’s face, which now showed a mix of guilt, embarrassment, and a hint of annoyance.
“If I weren’t here, whose blood would you use, huh? Cat’s blood?”
Deasy rolled her eyes. She had actually been about to say thank you earlier, but seeing how annoying Darwin was being, she decided to abandon that idea.
“Bitter melon, tomatoes. I don’t care. If you’re not willing, I’ll just take your blood from inside my body. I don’t feel like owing favors to an irritating guy like you.”
Veronica and Lucas shook their heads in unison. Even after being helped so much, Deasy still couldn’t bring herself to be overly nice to Darwin.
“Enough, you two. Don’t fight,” Veronica said. “The important thing is that you’re awake now, and your condition is slowly improving. Get well soon, and if you need any help, I’m always here to assist you.”
“Yes, dear,” Lucas added. “Now, just focus on your recovery. Hopefully, you’ll be able to leave the hospital and go home the day after tomorrow. Don’t worry; I’ll always be there and do my best to help you take care of our baby.”
Deasy nodded and smiled. She was grateful to have such caring and kind people around her. Now, she needed to focus on getting better so she could return home and resume her normal activities.
