Chapter 111
Chapter 111 Scapegoat
Emily glanced back. Logan Morgan was still sulking, and Grace was quietly saying something to Sophia, apparently instructing her about something.
Emily reminded herself to be cautious. They might be discussing a new plan to deal with her.NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.
Ring ring ring-
She received a text message: [Keep your distance from Sophia - Satan]
Emily glanced at it, nodded, and put her phone away.
Sophia also noticed it, lightly teasing, "You must have quite a charm. Jackson just left, and you're already getting texts from him?"
Emily gave her a cold look, her expression unchanged. "It's none of your business."
Sophia lowered her gaze, looking at her belly, her tone softening. "Emily, I was too impulsive in the haunted house earlier. I haven't treated you well, and I apologize."
"No need. I don't accept that apology."
Emily became wary. Sophia, who had just been hysterical, suddenly apologized; she must be planning something.
Sophia's demeanor completely changed. Her plea carried a hint of grievance. "Emily, you're a woman too, you should understand me. My husband tries to betray me, and I can't control my emotions. I'm pregnant, and my temper is a bit erratic. I'm trying to control it, but sometimes I lose control. Emily, I'm not asking for your forgiveness; I just want to ask you, could you stay away from Nathan? Don't you have a new man now? Can't you give up on Nathan?" So she apologized for this?
Emily chuckled coldly. "I'm not interested in Nathan. Let me emphasize again, you now have a stepfather and a brother. Don't come and harass me and my family in the future." Sophia smiled faintly and remained silent.
Entering the haunted house again, they had both adapted to the eerie atmosphere and dim lighting, so they didn't feel particularly scared.
However, Sophia was wearing high heels, causing her to stumble awkwardly. Emily focused on finding the switch while occasionally hearing Sophia's gasps. "Emily."
Emily ignored her.
"You are pregnant too. Are you having severe morning sickness? I've been throwing up every morning recently. Even the smell of seafood makes me nauseous." Emily had reached the vampire room and was diligently searching for the switch.
Sophia continued talking behind her. After realizing it was pointless, she gradually quieted down.
Sobbing―
The crying sound came again.
Sophia was startled. She rushed up and grabbed Emily's hand, her face full of fear. "Did you hear that? Someone was crying just now."
Emily tried to pull away, but Sophia's grip was too tight. She tried several times but couldn't break free.
"How am I supposed to find the exit like this? Do you still want to find your brother, Herry? Sophia, stay away from me."
Her tone was stern, and Sophia nervously shrunk her neck, looking extremely unnatural. "Sis, I've been afraid of the dark since I was a child, you know that." Emily shook her off. "Then go out. Don't make trouble for me here."
"I can't. My mom asked me to find Herry here, so I can't leave."
"Then keep your mouth shut!" Emily pointed to a small cluster of lights in the corner. "If you're scared of the dark, stand over there."
"No, I" Sophia clung to Emily's arm. "I feel safer with you."
Emily closed her eyes, forcefully suppressing the anger building up inside her head.
Mr. Satan's warning was correct; regardless of whether Sophia intended to cause trouble here, she was definitely foolish!
Ring ring ring-
The phone rang.
Emily felt the vibration in her pocket. "Let go, I need to take this call."
Sophia smirked mischievously. "Is it Jackson?"
"What business is it of yours?"
Emily stepped away from her and walked to a corner to answer. "Hello?"
"Emily, it's me. From now on, don't speak. Just listen to me, and if you understand, just say 'yes'."
Emily recognized his voice. "Yes."
Mr. Satan continued, "I found a lead. Sophia has been with Nathan and also had relations with another man. So, the child in her belly might not, t be Nathan's she might just be using this child to successfully marry into the Reed family. If that's the case, she won't allow this child to be born safely. She'll definitely try to find a way to induce a miscarriage, and you'll be the perfect scapegoat."
Emily's heart sank after hearing this.
Nathan has oligospermia, his chances of impregnating a woman are very low, so the child in Sophia's belly might not be Nathan's!
Emily felt goosebumps all over her
body. Now, there were only the two of them in the haunted house. If Sophia miscarried here, she would be the only suspect. There were no
witnesses here, and if Sophiano
insisted that Emily was the culprit, Emily wouldn't stand a chance to defend herself.
Mr. Satan intentionally paused for a while, allowing her to comprehend. Then Mr. Satan continued, "Is she intentionally trying to get close to you?" "...Yes."
"Although I'm not sure if that's her intention, you still need to be careful. Grace is not an easy person to deal with. With her guidance, Sophia seems to have a mind of her own."
