Part 2 Chapter 8
Molly Morgan’s POV
My stomach growled loudly drawing the attention of every werewolf in the room. It wasn’t my fault, we had been looking into this Finn problem since early this morning. It had been literally hours since I had last eaten.
“Maybe we should take a little break,” Grayson suggested.
“That is a good idea, I need to check on Thomas,” Grayson’s dad said.
“That is a good idea, he wouldn’t ask for help but he is probably struggling,” I said.
Grayson’s dad had left everything related to running his company under my stepfather’s control because there was so much going on with the pack. He had been helping to lead the company for years but there was just too much work for one person to do alone. In addition to the company he had a new mate to worry about and I know he was desperate to make it work between them.
“Do you think we might be able to go out for lunch?” I asked.
I didn’t want to have to face Finn again. With all of the suspicions we had about him and what he was really doing here it didn’t feel right being around him. We had a big meal last night with Finn and the rest of the high ranking pack members but it was just painful.novelbin
Everyone around the table knew about our suspicions and the atmosphere was so thick that it was hard to even breathe. There is no chance that Finn didn’t know that we suspected him but despite this, he didn’t say anything about it. He continued on as though there was nothing wrong which, if anything made it more awkward.
“Anything you wish,” Grayson replied.
He didn’t even ask me why I suddenly wanted to go somewhere else to eat. It could be because he knows that I don’t want to spend any more time with Finn than I had to but I had a feeling it had nothing to do with that. Grayson loved spoiling me and he would do anything to make me happy, I was so lucky to have him.
“Great let’s go,” I said, jumping to my feet then I took hold of his hands to drag him with me.
He laughed as he let me pull him to his feet and lead him out of the room. He licked his lips and he looked at me, his eyes darting from my face to my body then back again.
‘I think Grayson is hungry but not for food,’ Jade purred.
“So, where am I taking you?” He asked as we started to descend the stairs towards the exit.
‘Just tell him to take us to bed, we can order food and have a little fun while we wait,’ Scarlett suggested, causing Jade to squeal excitedly in my head.
I don’t know what was wrong with them today but they were both really needy. It was starting to give me a headache. Grayson paused and looked back at me with concern written all over his face.
“Are you ok, you have been a little quiet today,” He said.
He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me close. His lips grazed the edge of my mouth sending shivers down my spine and making both my lycan and my wolf purr in anticipation.
“I don’t know, I…”
“Molly, is that you I hear,” Finn said.
He walked out of the room with his mates, June and Ezra following closely behind him. June gave me a sympathetic look. She had been filled in on the situation and she had offered to keep Finn away from me so that we could look into his story.
“June told me that you were busy but I hoped that we could have lunch together or something,” Finn said. He had a huge smile on his face which almost made me think that he could really be completely unaware of our suspicions.
“I don’t see a problem with that. We are taking a break from work for a while but we have to be back before 2pm,” Grayson replied.
Finn enthusiastically agreed and started walking towards the door. Grayson gave me an apologetic look as we started to follow him. We made it a few metres out of the building before Finn realised that he had no clue where he was going and let us take the lead.
June was coming along with us but she was walking a few paces behind with Ezra holding onto her. She was talking about her exams later this week, I hadn’t thought about my exams for days. With everything else going on, I hadn’t thought about college at all and I certainly hadn’t revised.
“s**t,” I said.
“What’s wrong?” Grayson asked.
“I have exams in a few days and I haven’t even revised. I am totally going to lose my scholarship,” I complained. I was probably going to lose it anyway, my attendance hasn’t exactly been great over the last few weeks.
“I wouldn’t worry about that, even if you do I can pay for your course,” Grayson said.
“I thought you couldn’t do that because it wasn’t one of the approved courses?” I asked.
“We couldn’t use pack finances but I can pay with my own money, besides your course has already been useful,” He replied, smiling at me.
“I didn’t know you were at college, what are you studying?” Finn asked, running to catch up with us.
“Biology,” I replied.
I hadn’t even realised he was listening to our conversation and I hadn’t worried about discussing my studies with him here. I didn’t like his sudden interest though and it filled me with the urge to hide as much of the details from him as I could.
“Oh, from the way Grayson was talking I thought it was going to be something more interesting,” Finn said.
“Well I find it interesting,” I replied, feeling a little defensive.
“I guess, I was never really interested in anything at school other than sport and chasing she wolves,” Finn said, winking at Grayson.
“I wouldn’t know anything about that, I was a bit of a geek at school,” Grayson said.
That wasn’t exactly true. Grayson wasn’t at school for the last few years I was there but when we were in the same school together I wouldn’t have called him a geek. He did well in all his classes but he was also very popular and did great at any sport he tried.
“I have never heard of a geeky alpha before. You must still be strong and athletic though,” Finn asked.
“Yes, I guess I am,” Grayson said.
‘What are you doing?’ I asked Grayson over mindlink.
‘I am playing down our strength. I want him to think I am weak, that way when he tries to capitalise on it then we know we can’t trust him,’ Grayson replied.
I had doubts about Grayson’s strategy but maybe it wasn’t such a bad plan. For the rest of the walk Finn was quiet and looked as though he was deep in thought. When we got to the cafe he started to talk to us again but there was something different about him, something off.
He seemed as though he was eager to get away. As soon as his food arrived he ate up as quickly as he could then made an excuse to leave. He was out of the door less than thirty minutes after we walked in.
“What was all that about?” Ezra asked, once the door to the cafe had closed behind Finn and his mates.
“We think that he might have been sent by someone to learn about our pack and report back. I gave him false information which should be interesting enough for him to report back to his superiors.” Grayson said.
“Shouldn’t we follow him then?” June asked.
Grayson shook his head.
“He already has half of the pack’s security team following him. They will find out who he is talking to while we finish lunch,” Grayson said.
“That’s a shame, I would have loved to have seen the look on his face when he realised he had been caught out,” June said followed by a pretty evil sounding laugh.
“That seems a little mean,” I replied.
“You only think that because you haven’t had to spend the last four hours with him and the model twins,” June said.
“Was it really that bad?” I already felt guilty enough, I had a feeling that her answer was going to make that much worse.
“Put it this way, Finn is so shallow that he makes Ezra look like a world renowned philosopher,” June said, causing Grayson to spurt coffee out of his mouth and laugh so hard that everyone in the cafe started staring at us.
“Hey!” Ezra exclaimed, sounding more than a little hurt.
“Ezra sweetie, I love you but you aren’t exactly the deepest of people,” June said.
“I love you too,” Ezra said. He was smiling from ear to ear, all traces of hurt gone from his voice.
“I didn’t…”
“No. You said that you loved me, you can’t take it back now,” Ezra said, leaning over and kissing her on the cheek.
