Chapter 23

Jackson frowned. He held Candice by the elbows and asked gently, “Are you okay?”

Candice pursed her lips in silence. It took her a while to realize it was Jackson who helped her.

She got up on her feet slowly and took two steps away from the man. She said tiredly, “Jackson. I’m sorry, I didn’t know it was you.”

“Candice,” Jackson called her, but he did not know what else to say.

Candice looked at him with her blushing cheeks and burning red lips. She was definitely tipsy.

Jackson was slightly shocked. He took off his jacket and gave it to her. “I’ll drive you home.”

When Jackson and Candice left the club, Sieg and the others were still waiting

outside.

Sieg spotted his friend and said, “You wanna go for another round at GT? Dean said there’s a cute girl…”

Before he could finish, he saw Candice with furrowed brows behind Jackson.

Jackson said, “I’m driving Candice home. You guys go ahead.”

Candice’s slender figure made her look like a stick beside Jackson.

Sieg scoffed. He took a picture of them as they walked away and sent it to the group chat.

The others were curious but Sieg was not overly bothered. He said, “Don’t you guys think Candice doesn’t look like a woman at all? She’s walking with a man but the man isn’t even interested in her. No

wonder Alex would rather send dinner to Sonia.”

Candice saw the picture sent in the chat on the next day and several funny remarks followed.

She was not bothered. She was trying to text a client but accidentally tapped into the group.

Before she could exit the group, she spotted a text from Sonia.

“Candice and Mr. Shyan look good together.”

Sieg then replied, “As good as you and Alex?”

Candice’s eyes paused at the latest text for a second before she exited the group. She grabbed her stuff on the table and headed to the CEO’s office.

She has a business trip later in the day and there was a document that needed Alex’s signature.

Before she could enter the CEO’s office, Sonia stopped her.

The girl was sitting in Candice’s old place. She smiled and asked, “Candice, is there anything I can help you with?”

“I’m looking for Alex.”

Sonia casually said, “Alex is having a teleconference, he’s busy.”

Candice looked at her blankly. “I need him to sign some papers.”

Sonia frowned. “Candice, there are rules around here. Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten them.”

Candice’s hands froze for a moment. “When will he finish the teleconference?”

“Maybe ten minutes later? Why don’t you go back first, I’ll inform you when he’s free,” Sonia said.

There was nothing else Candice could say. She nodded and was about to leave.

Suddenly, Sonia called her in an almost inaudible voice. “Candice.”

The girl pointed at Alex’s office and continued softly, “At the end of the day, Alex is the CEO. I think you should call him Mr. Elysian, or else it might not look good to others. This is still the company after all.”

Sonia’s smile was flawless, even her eyes looked sincere.

However, Candice felt like her heart was ripped out and tossed into an icy abyss. She had chills running down her spine.

For the entire afternoon, Candice stayed behind her desk, waiting for the call that

never came.

When it was almost time to clock off, Alex came to her and knocked on her desk. (( Why are you still here? You have a business trip to Wing City today.”

Candice looked at him and gave him the document by her desk. She said, “I’m waiting for your signature.”

Alex scowled. Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
