Chapter 43: Welcome Home, Shiyao
“First of all, I’d like to introduce to you a person.”
“She’s my granddaughter, Qin Shiyao.”
“Qin Shiyao is my legitimate granddaughter. From now on, I don’t want to hear anyone criticize her, otherwise it will be against me, Qin Zheng!”
Silence reigned in the hall. Qin Shaofeng felt his heart almost bumping out. Everyone, including Song Meirong and Qin Wen, was shocked and looked at old Qin.
Years before, old Qin only took Shiyao home and made no announcement.
‘Is he going to officially recognize Shiyao as a member of Qin’s today?’
Shiyao looked at the old man in surprise. She didn’t want to be Qin Shiyao, nor did she care about the glory of the Qin’s. She just wanted to be a good granddaughter.
You Ze held Shiyao who felt uneasy, hinting her to continue listening.
Old Qin made the declaration ignoring those stunned faces.
“I won’t live much longer. The heir of the Qin’s family will be elected among all the juniors through fair competition. Everyone has the right to participate.”
The glass in Qin Shaofeng’s hand smashed on the floor with a crack.
“What does Grandpa mean? Let the bastard fight over Qin’s family property with us?
Qin Wen scolded angrily, which attracted the stare of surprised guests. The second Mrs. Qin quickly covered her mouth.
Shiyao grasped the wine glass, pondering.
“There is another piece of good news about Qin’s family, and I’d like to share it with you all.”
Old Qin ignored the audience’s uproar, no longer looked serious and said cheerfully.
“Qin Shiyao, my granddaughter, married You’s Young Master, You Ze.”
The guests present were all stunned, with an expression of disbelief.
“That Qin Shiyao is an unlawful daughter of Qin’s. How could she marry You Ze?”
Though puzzled, everyone applauded in time.
Shiyao buried her head, afraid to see all kinds of looks of others. You Ze, however, smiled politely in return.
“Is it humiliating to be Mrs. You?”
You Ze held Shiyao slightly harder to bring her out of wandering thoughts.
“Ah, no… It’s just…a little strange…”
When the crowd quieted, old Qin announced another amazing decision.
“I decide to transfer 10% of my shares to Yaoyao as her dowry.”
Qin Shaofeng and others finally got riled by the words.
“No way!”
Qin Shaofeng took the lead in opposing. Old Qin looked at his eldest son displeasedly and questioned,Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
“So, do you have any disapproval?”
All eyes fell on Qin Shaofeng, who was thinking of various reasons to refute.
“No, Dad. Yaoyao is too young to know business…”
“What? Yaoyao is 25 years old! Besides, You Ze is my grandson-in-law. Do you think he doesn’t understand either?”
Seeing Qin Shaofeng was in panic, Song Meirong hurried over for his rescue.
“No, Dad, Shaofeng doesn’t mean that. We just gave Ranran some money as dowry when she married. Isn’t it unfair to give Yaoyao 10% of the shares…?”
With that, Song Meirong thought about her eldest daughter with pretended grief. The second Mrs. Qin also started arguing for her two unmarried daughters and she wanted to see how the old man ended this.
Looking at them struggling to go against him, old Qin coughed angrily. Shiyao rushed over to comfort him.
“Grandpa, Aunt Song is right. Sister didn’t get such treatment when she married. You can’t be partial to me.”
She remembered Qin Ran, a meek and thin girl who always sat in a wheelchair, smiled to her, and would never insult her. This girl was the only person in Qin’s family that had been kind to Shiyao except Grandpa.
Shiyao shrugged, “I don’t want anything. I can support myself. Grandpa, if you can accompany me on my wedding day, I’ll be very happy.”
No one knew when You Ze walked behind Shiyao, with a light smile on his clod face.
“Yaoyao is right. She needs no more than You’s.”
Old Qin helplessly sighed. It seemed that he had to change his will.
“Since you don’t want shares, you must accept dowry. I will give you twice the dowry of Ranran!”
Old Qin looked at Shiyao firmly, and then went back to his room regardless of others’ suggestions.
Qin Wen stamped her feet hysterically and looked at Qin’s brothers in despair.
“Dad, Uncle, what shall we do? Grandpa is so partial to her. The bitch will walk all over us one day if things go on like this!”
“Behave yourself! You’re Miss Qin. Look at you!”
Qin Shaogang was very strict with Qin Wen. He preferred the docile girl Qin Yu to Qin Wen.
“We know what you said. Since You Ze backs her, even old Qin has to make a concession. He almost gave 10% of the shares to You Ze just now!”
Qin Shaofeng clenched his teeth, resentful but helpless.
“You Ze again… God knows what filthy tricks that bitch has used? Mom, what should we do?”
The second Mrs. Qin looked at Qin Wen in embarrassment and couldn’t answer her.
“Humph! I won’t let her occupy You Ze’s bed too long.”
Seeing no response, Qin Wen stormed out with the words. Qin Yu tried to follow up, but was stopped by Qin Shaogang.
“Watch her. It’s not time to be childish. No one can save her if she gets into trouble!”
Song Meirong frowned, reminding the second Mrs. Qin. She knew Qin Wen’s character.
“Yes.”
The second Mrs. Qin whispered and then left with Qin Yu.
Qin Shaofeng looked at shards of glass on the ground, lost in thought.
Shiyao and You Ze chatted with the old man in his room for nearly two hours. Not until the pointer slowly pointed to 12 o’clock did Shiyao and You Ze leave reluctantly.
The old man stood in front of the window and watched the car slowly leaving, looking grim.
“Old Zhang, give me a pen.”
The old man took out his will, pondered for a moment, and updated it.
“Why did you go alone?”
Since it was a little chilly at night, Shiyao closed the window, drowsy. You Ze’s question made her feel a bit awake.
“Why can’t I come alone to visit Grandpa…?”
“So you end up being troubled by a crowd of Damas?”
You Ze rapped her head contemptuously, but Shiyao couldn’t help laughing.
