Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 398

Everett leaned back on the leather sofa, absently swirling his drink, silent for a stretch before speaking up in a laid-back manner. "Can't find her."

"What do you mean, you can't find her?"

Jaime perked up, his curiosity ignited. He and Everett had known each other since before they were born, practically, and he thought there were no secrets between them. But here was Everett, harboring secrets like a pro! Everett's dark eyes narrowed slightly.

After his heart transplant, while he was on the mend, he was hit with the news that his brother's death wasn't accidental as he'd thought. The shock was so intense that he slipped back into a coma, spiking a dangerous fever that threatened his life again. Josh had gone above and beyond, rounding up the best doctors from around the globe, and with the help of some rare medicines from the Hodge family, they managed to pull him back from the brink.

Perhaps because of the fever, when he woke up, his memories were all jumbled. It felt like he'd forgotten someone really important.

Every now and then, bits and pieces would flash in his mind-a vague silhouette-but he'd never managed to see the face clearly, so he had no idea who it was.

As he got better, his memories started to piece themselves together. He recalled something happening during his stay in the countryside, so he asked the servants who had cared for him if they'd noticed him getting close to anyone.

The servants shrugged, describing him as a bit of a loner, always keeping to himself and not letting anyone get near. However, they did mention that after he was kidnapped, a young girl had saved him.Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.

That girl might be the shadowy figure lingering in his memories.

He tried getting answers from the cops involved in the investigation but they came up empty too. They'd only responded to an emergency call and hadn't seen any young girl.

en

The call had come from a roadside payphone, and there were no surveillance cameras in that area.

So, the trail went cold.

Even though he couldn't find her and his memories were hazy about what happened, he was convinced that his first love was for that girl.

Over the years, aside from being naturally reserved and career-driven, he'd shown little interest in other women, probably because of her.

That was until his grandfather pushed him into marrying Selena.

Jaime was left slack-jawed by this roller-coaster tale, almost like he was watching a daytime drama. He'd never pegged Everett for the pure love type!

After digesting the story, he

scratched his head and spoke some

hard truths,."Your info is way too sketchy. This is like finding a needle in a haystack. And what if she's married with kids by now? You planning to swoop in and steal her away?"

Everett shot him a cool look.

Jaime, unfazed, puffed out his chest, "It's just logical thinking. You've been hitched for three years; it's only fair she's possibly married too. And can you be sure she still remembers you? Childhood crushes fade. You're here pining away, head over heels, but if you can't find her, are you just going to keep waiting forever?"

Everett's resolve hadn't wavered one bit.

His plan was simple: find her, and if she liked him, he'd pop the question. If not, he'd woo her until she said yes.
