Chapter 13 I Will Give You A Chance To Tell The Truth
Linda trudged back to the bedroom. She thought that she would fall asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow, because she hadn’t had a good rest last night. But when she lay down on the big bed that smelled just like Cecil, she found that she couldn’t fall asleep.
It was afternoon now, so Cecil would probably need to take a nap.
‘Is he staying away from the bedroom because of me?’ Linda wondered.
With her mind in a mess, she tossed and turned for a long time before she finally fell asleep.
Meanwhile, after Chelsey left the living room, her eyes flashed with hatred. She felt utterly bitter and humiliated.
When she had found out that Cecil was going to get married, she had finally given up the love that she had hidden in her heart since she was a child, but she had never expected that he would end up marrying a woman who wasn’t Leona.
‘How is Linda different from me? She and I are both women that Cecil doesn’t love. So how come she gets to be his wife, and not me? That Linda…
She’s just a fake!
How dare a fake ask me to apologize?’ she wondered, gnashing her teeth in anger.
On the other side, Cecil was unoccupied.
Since he had just gotten married, he was on leave from work.
He didn’t want to disturb Linda, who was resting in the bedroom, so he went to the study instead.
The man’s eyes fell on the photo frame on the desk, where there was a photo of him and Leona. That beautiful girl was riding piggyback on his back, beaming at the camera.
That bright smile of hers was engraved right into his bones; the more he looked at it, the more dazzled he felt.
Out of nowhere, anger surged up within him. He lifted the photo frame and tossed it into the desk drawer.
After that, he raised his hand and massaged the skin between his eyebrows.
In the past, he had always accepted Leona’s requests, no matter how unreasonable they were. She seemed to be happy in their relationship. But why had she chosen to run away from their marriage?
Was their whole relationship just a joke to her? Why?
“
Dammit!”
Cecil cursed. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
He abruptly stood up from the leather seat and strode out of the study. The servants who were cleaning the corridor shrank in fright upon seeing his expression, and did their tasks with careful attention.
But to Cecil, they were all invisible as he stormed down the corridor and into the master bedroom.
Perhaps because she was having a light sleep, Linda woke up as soon as she heard the noise.
Cecil roughly drew the curtains apart, letting the harsh light of the afternoon sun stream in as he turned and looked coldly at the woman on the bed.
By that time, Linda had already sat up.
In her groggy state, she raised her hand to block out the sudden influx of light.
When her eyes finally adjusted to the light, she saw Cecil standing silently in front of the French windows. Just looking at his handsome face made her heart race.
But at this moment, his attractive features were creased in anger.
Curling her fingers slightly, Linda looked up at him and asked, “Mr. Bo, what’s the matter?”
Cecil put his hands in the pockets of his trousers and tilted his chin up at her. Although he stood far away, his posture was still condescending. “It’s impossible that Leona left just like that. I’ll give you one last chance to tell me the truth.”
Linda clenched her hands into fists to keep them from shaking.
Why was Cecil asking her about this again? Had he discovered anything?
Or had he just reached some clarity after calming down?
Miffed by her silence, Cecil strode towards her with sharp eyes. “Miss Ye, what are you thinking about? Are you trying to guess my reaction after hearing the truth? Or are you wondering if lying would be better for the Ye family? Huh?”
Linda shook her head subconsciously. “No, that’s not it,” she denied immediately.
In fact, she was just wondering if he had cooled down a little since last night.
Now that almost 24 hours had passed, would he be able to accept the truth?
However, it still looked like he was very unhappy with the situation.
