Chapter 7
Finalize the Procedure on Monday
Meanwhile, Harper had just stepped out of the ward, and tears immediately streamed down her cheeks.
She thought she had prepared herself for this moment after Benjamin suggested divorce the night before. Yet, seeing him with Lauren still pained her deeply.
Harper felt as if something was continuously gnawing at her heart until it became numb.
Afterward, she returned to their home, Pineview Villa. It was a wedding gift from Benjamin's grandfather, Paul Martin. Harper had lived there since their wedding day, marking a year full of memories that were now coming to an end.
Harper thought, "Once the paperwork is done, I should move out. And I'll need to start looking for a new place soon since the Mitchell family doesn't welcome me."
Thinking of the Mitchell family, she realized she should inform them about the divorce in advance.
After getting ready, Harper drove back to the Mitchell Manor.
Ever since she had gotten married, she hadn't come back often because she had long known that Jennifer didn't like her.
Just as Harper reached the doorstep, she overheard a worried voice coming from inside. "Mom, I heard Lauren had woken up from coma and Benjamin hasn't left her side since. Are we really just going to sit by and do nothing? What if Lauren remembers..."
"Kimberly, let's not speak of this matter again. Right now, your priority is to learn at the Mitchell Group and prepare for the next design competition," the beautiful and gentle Jennifer instructed, her voice filled with affection and care.
Harper was momentarily surprised at the mention of Lauren's name, but she didn't linger to listen further. Instead, she immediately walked toward the living room.Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
"Mom, I'm back," Harper said quietly.
She looked up and saw Jennifer sitting on the sofa in the living room. She exuded an air of grace and gentleness, bearing a slight resemblance to Harper in her facial features.
Harper's sudden return caught Jennifer and her daughter, Kimberly Mitchell, by surprise. Kimberly smiled, "Harper, you're back? Why didn't we hear you come in? You weren't eavesdropping on me and Mom, were you?"
