His Destructive, Toxic Love

Chapter 589

"Casper, did you really split the diamond?" Minna grabbed the man's arm just as he was about to leave. "Do you have any clue how much that diamond is worth?"

"What's it to you?" Casper chuckled, a smirk tugging at his lips. "Just because it's pricey, you think you can claim it?"NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.

Minna's confident smile wavered for a moment. Sure, the diamond's value was enticing. But what really captivated her was its vibrant, rainbow-like colors. She had a knack for believing that anything unique in this world should belong to her. "Wouldn't you swap that diamond for your freedom?"

This wasn't Minna's first attempt to dangle freedom in front of him. Previously, she suggested trading his global steel empire at Welton International for his freedom. Before that, it was ten free trade ports.

Casper was fed up with her offers and especially loathed the Christianson family's insatiable greed. Getting out of there was just a matter of time. He didn't need her charity. Not only did he plan on leaving, but he also intended to settle the score for all the wrongs he'd endured.

Did Minna really think she had him trapped? What a laugh.

"No way," he replied firmly.

Fuming, Minna raised her hand to slap him, but he caught it mid-air. "I'd suggest you cool it with the tantrums. There's only one woman who has the right to slap this face, and you're not her."

"Are you really not scared of dying?" she spat, glaring daggers at him. "No matter how powerful you are in Falconridge, this is Country H. Here, the Christianson family reigns. Cross me, and you might just vanish without a trace."

Sure, the Christianson family wielded that kind of power. But Casper wasn't one to be underestimated. Over time, he had learned the ins and outs of the Christianson family's operations. True, they were one of the top financial players in Country H, even the president had to watch his step around them.

But what they didn't know was that

the president wouldn't remain under their thumb forever; a

counter-strategy was inevitable. Evidence of their illegal dealings had been piling up for years. The net was closing in on them. The more arrogant they got, the swifter their

downfall.

Casper was a businessman, and there was no way he'd hand over his empire to the Christianson family. Even partnering with them wouldn't let him walk away unscathed. So, he chose to team up with the president. Only then could he leave Country H with his head held high.

The timing was right. He missed her.

With a brief sigh, Casper released Minna's hand. "Ms. Minna, maybe you should focus more on enjoying life. The world doesn't revolve around you. You're not a god who decides who lives or dies. My life, Casper's life, isn't yours to take." Casper's indifference drove Minna to the brink of madness. If it weren't for her father, Kaleb, and his unrealistic dreams about Casper, she would've wanted him gone for good.

"Fine." She lifted her chin with the arrogance typical of someone born into privilege. "If you won't hand it over, I'll find another way. You'll regret your lack of respect."

He chuckled softly.

...

When Dillon got back, Eliza was still glued to her phone, searching for all she could about the Kaleb family. She was desperate to see Casper, to know how he was doing. But from the dark clouds hovering on Dillon's face, hope seemed distant. "What's the latest?" she asked.

Dillon switched off the lights in the room and motioned for Eliza to keep quiet. "I just met with the president's team. MCasper is safe for now The president's about to make his move, and the Christianson family doesn't have much time left. We'll see him soon."

"Really?" Eliza didn't grasp all the complexities, but the news lit up her face. "That's amazing."
