Chapter 138~ The results
Later in the evening at the Kingsley mansion.
Miles narrowed his eyes at Celeste as she walked into their room.
It had been a long day of trying to convince the shareholders that the company wasn't going to go bankrupt after the news of Ryan's illness was exposed.
Although he and Charles had a hard time, they still managed to convince the board for the time being.
However, the stock price kept dropping with some of their partners pulling out of the deal, worrying about the future of the projects if the leader of the group wasn't going to live long.
"Why did you do that? Did you think Jason would become CEO if you exposed Ryan's illness?" Miles questioned, anger flickering through his eyes.
Celeste's smile froze, "Miles, honey, what do you mean?"
"Drop the act, Celeste," Miles snapped. "Have you been pretending to be nice all this time? How dare you expose our family secret like that knowing what impact it would have on the company? How dare you use my son's illness to get what you want for yours?" Celeste's expression hardened but she kept her voice soft as she replied, "Darling, why would you think I used Ryan's illness to get what I want? I only wanted to raise awareness and show the world how strong our family is during this difficult time. And what do you mean by my son? Isn't Jason your son too?"
"He is my son! That's why I gave him my shares! So that he wouldn't feel left out. But what did you do? You went behind my back after I told you about Ryan and announced his illness to the whole world. Now that the company is in chaos, are you happy?" Miles said angrily.
"I used to think you were a kind-hearted woman, but now I think it was my wishful thinking. All that you've ever cared about is my family's wealth. And because of you, I never got to spend much time with my other children!" "What about Jason? He grew up alone-"
"And whose fault is that, Celeste? Did I ask you to send him away? No... your greed made you do that. You wanted to keep him a secret so that you could use him in the future just like you're doing," Miles hissed.
He pointed a finger at Celeste and warned her, "Listen, Celeste, I don't care what your plans are, but leave all my children out of it. Don't manipulate or coax any of them into doing your bidding. If I find out, you will be sorry." Celeste dropped her act and glared at Miles as she said, "Ryan is already dying but instead of securing Jason's position, here you are warning me about useless things. I'm going to make sure my son sits in that position, Miles. Watch me." With those words, Celeste left the room, leaving Miles speechless. He shook his head, a look of regret on his face.

...
Social media was still ablaze with the news of Ryan's illness and no matter how much they tried to pull the news down, more articles kept popping up about the issue.
Days came and went and soon, a week had passed.
The crisis caused so many companies to pull out of their partnerships with the Kingsley Group, giving it a huge financial burden that went beyond what the company could take.
Despite all this, the Kingsley family and the Davis family gathered at the hospital to get the results of the tests they had done to check if any of them were a match.
After the Kingsleys did their tests, Lora informed her family and they volunteered to check if their stem cells were a match too.
Ryan's eyes stung with gratitude as he looked around at everyone in the VIP lounge. He cleared his throat and said, "Thank you so much for doing this for me. No words can describe how grateful I am." Jack Davis glanced at Ryan and said, "We are a family, of course, we need to stand by each other in such difficult times."
Everyone else agreed with that statement, looking at Ryan with warm smiles on their faces.
"I think the hardest part would be telling the twins I wouldn't be able to live long-"
"You won't have to tell them that, Ryan. I have faith that at least one of us will be a match," Freya Davis interrupted Ryan.
Lora looked at her husband, she held
his hand and uttered, "Don't worry about such things yet. We have to try harder before we get to that conclusion. And we will never get to that conclusion because we are going to find a match for you today."
"Good morning, everyone."
The lounge fell silent when the Doctor's voice echoed in the area. All eyes turned to him in anticipation.
"The results are ready," Doctor Steve announced, waving the file in his hand.
"What did they say, Doctor? Is any of us a match? You can tell us the results, we are all family here," Miles asked, his voice laced with worry.
The doctor sighed and the atmosphere suddenly turned somber. They could see from the look on the doctor's face that he didn't bring good news.
"We did find three potential matches for Mr Kingsley. However, none of the three can donate their stem cells," Doctor Steve reported.
Lora's heart jumped to her throat. Her voice shook as she asked, "Who are those and why can't they donate?"
"The first two are Diane Kingsley and Miles Kingsley. However, the requirement for a donor is that they should be in good health. Miss and Mr Kingsley, both of you seem to have a heart condition. Although it's dormant, we can't take that risk-"
"I don't care what happens to me! I'm willing to donate my stem cells to save my son's life," Miles offered. "Please, Doctor."
Doctor Steve shook his head and replied, "I'm sorry but that's against my work ethic. As for the third match, it was Mrs Lora Kingsley-"
Gasps echoed around the lounge as everyone glanced at Lora whose eyes gleamed with joy.
"Doctor, I had a check-up months ago, I'm perfectly healthy. I can donate my stem cells to my husband," Lora remarked. "There must have been a mistake."
However, Doctor Steve shook his

head and responded, "Unfortunately, even though you are perfectly healthy, after doing a blood and urine test with your samples, we discovered you can't donate your stem cells in your condition"
"What condition?" Lora asked, looking confused.
Doctor Steve smiled and said, "I know these are difficult times and perhaps good news might cheer you up. Mrs Kingsley, you are..."
