Chapter 135~ Telling family
David Williams was confused when his security told him that a woman was there to see him. He wasn't expecting anyone at that time, so he wondered who it could be.
When he allowed them to let her through, his eyes widened when he saw none other than Celeste Anderson Kingsley, Miles Kingsley's wife.
He was shocked to see her at his house. They hadn't met in private for so many years now after a certain incident.
David sighed, gesturing for her to take a seat across from him in his study.
"What makes you think it's going to work this time?" David asked, looking at Celeste. "Ryan isn't easy to defeat."
Celeste smirked. She crossed her legs and said, "By tomorrow, something will happen that will give us an opportunity to get rid of the Kingsley group. I want you to buy into the group but my son should be made the CEO once it becomes yours." David's eyes widened again. He had a question mark on his face as he uttered, "What do you mean? Do you know how much the Kingsley Group is worth? Where do you expect me to get that much money?"Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Celeste laughed. She looked at David and replied, "David, I'm not stupid. I know you can't manage to buy into the Kingsley group with your current wealth."
"So then, why-"
"Like I said, something will happen tomorrow that will enable you to buy into the group," Celeste stated. "Aren't you aggrieved that your daughter was pushed into a corner by Ryan Kingsley and his wife? This is your time to get revenge." Hatred flashed through David's eyes. Indeed, he had been upset that his daughter was now a fugitive of the law. Ivy was used to being his little princess. But now, she had to live under a different identity and forever be in hiding.
He clenched his hands into fists as he responded, "I'll make him pay for what he did to my daughter."
Celeste smirked as she remarked, "It's a deal then. We are going to destroy the Kingsleys."
David suddenly frowned. He looked at Celeste and asked, "Why do you want me to buy into the Kingsley group? Why not just take it for yourself?"
"Do you think I would have that chance? I thought marrying Miles would make me the richest woman in this city," Celeste said and gnashed her teeth. "But the fool can't even become the chairman of the group. He has no power... I need plenty of money to buy into the group and I don't have that much money... not even the shares that Miles had are enough to get the upper hand."
David squinted his eyes as a plan formed in his mind. He didn't have enough cash in hand but he would if he sold some of his properties. Even though it was very risky, it would be worth it if he owned the Kingsley group.
"I'm going to work with you one last time and this time, we have to succeed," David stated.
Celeste nodded and replied, "I have a plan. This time, Ryan will be crushed."
...
Meanwhile, Ryan and Lora arrived at the Kingsley mansion at the same time as Diane Kingsley.
Diane looked at them and asked, "What do you want to talk to us about? You sounded serious on the phone, so I had to stop what I was doing to come over."
Ryan glanced at his sister and replied, "I'll tell you together with everyone."
Diane studied her brother, hoping to guess what he wanted to say. However, she couldn't figure it out and just followed them inside the mansion.
Charles and Miles were already seated in the living room when Ryan, Lora and Diane joined them.
When they were all settled, Ryan looked at his wife and she gave him an encouraging nod.
He took in a deep breath and looked at his family before clearing his throat.
"I'm here to tell you something important," Ryan said with difficulty, a lump forming in his throat.
Lora reached forward and held his hand, squeezing it lightly to give him some courage. "What is it, Ryan?" Charles asked worriedly.
Ryan took another deep breath

before he began, "I've been hiding something from all of you and
before I say what it is, I would like to say how deeply sorry I am."
He paused, his hands trembling but Lora squeezed his hand tighter to assure him that she was by his side.
Ryan looked at his wife for a bit
before continuing, "A year ago, I was
diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, It's a rare type of blood cancer and it has progressed to a high-risk stage. The only stem cell donor I found has gone missing and without treatment, I may only have a few months to live."
Diane gasped and clamped a hand over her mouth as her eyes watered with tears.
"What?" Charles' voice was shaky. "Y-you have cancer?"
"Sadly, yes," Ryan said and dead silence fell upon the place as the weight of Ryan's words sank into them.
"Oh my God! Ryan... Is that why you
said you were going on leave?" Diane asked as tears rolled down her cheeks. "I should have known something was up with you. What are we going to do now? I don't want to lose you, bro."
"Are you joking?" Charles asked, his lips trembling. "Is this a prank?"
Sadness crept into Ryan's heart. He looked at his grandfather and answered, "No, Grandpa. It's true. I don't have much time left."
"No... no... it can't be," Charles mumbled to himself. He blinked and tears streamed down his wrinkled cheeks. "My grandson can't be sick."
At the same time, Miles Kingsley was frozen in shock. He opened his mouth to speak but no words came out.
After a few seconds, he looked at his son and asked, "Why didn't you tell us sooner?"
"I have no excuse," Ryan replied, guilt creeping into him. "Dad, Grandpa and Diane, I'm so sorry."
The place was filled with a somber mood as everyone tried to digest Ryan's words.
Suddenly, Miles let out a frustrated groan as he cried out, "So, my son is sick, and I had no idea? What kind of father am I?"
