Chapter 22
Chapter 22
“I watched your cake-baking video before. Can you bake a cake for me?” Floretta didn’t even give Angeline a chance to say no.
Instead, she directly brought up the fact that Angeline used to live stream herself baking cakes on social media. That was before Angeline was famous.
What a crafty child. Angeline uttered with hesitation, “I do, but there are no ingredients here.”
“That’s simple.” Floretta’s eyes sparkled. “Follow me!”
Following behind the girl, Angeline was brought to the top floor of Golding Group.
“Come on in, Angel!” Floretta navigated all the way into an office with great familiarity and pulled Angeline in.
“This is…” Looking around, the woman asked, “Is this your daddy’s office?”
“Yeah!” The girl pointed inside. “There’s a kitchen over there. Wait for me. I need to call someone.”
Then she climbed up the leather couch behind the office table and used the phone sitting on the table. “I need ingredients for baking a cake right now. Send it up here in ten minutes.”
Despite her soft, childish voice, she already sounded like an authoritative figure.
Angeline gazed at the girl. She’s indeed Evander’s daughter.
As they waited for the cake ingredients to arrive, she found a first aid kit and treated Floretta’s knee wound. “It may hurt a little, but the wound needs to be disinfected, so bear with me, all right?”
“Okay. I’m not afraid.”RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
“There aren’t any girls who aren’t afraid of pain.” Angeline chuckled. “With how much your daddy loves you, if he learns that you’re hurt, he’ll be heartbroken.”
That prompted Floretta to ask, “Didn’t you want to become a spokesperson for my daddy’s jewelry company, Angel?”
“You know about the spokesperson matter?” Angeline was surprised.
“Of course! I’m your superfan! I know everything about you. So, can I go and watch you when you film the advertisement?”
What a shrewd little girl. She knows quite a lot, huh? As Angeline applied ointment to the girl’s wound, she said, “I’m afraid it’s not going to happen for now. Your daddy terminated my contract.”
“What?” Floretta almost jumped up from the couch when she heard that and almost knocked the ointment away. Then she sat back down while gritting her teeth in pain. “Ouch…”
That terrified Angeline. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I accidentally hurt you, didn’t I? Is it painful?”
The girl ignored her words and spoke with fury. “How can my daddy terminate your contract? I’m going to ask him about it!”
Then she tried to get up again.
Angeline quickly pressed the girl back down and rejected resignedly, “There’s no need for you to do that, but thank you, nonetheless. I can handle my own matters.”
“But you’re so awesome! How can Daddy terminate your contract? He must be crazy!”
Seeing how Floretta was scolding Evander righteously, Angeline felt the urge to chuckle. Still, she held back her desire and explained, “It’s complicated. In any case, I can take care of it by myself. Once our
misunderstandings are resolved, I’ll become the spokesperson.”
It was one thing for her not to want to become the spokesperson; it was another for her contract to be terminated.
It wasn’t a problem for her if Starlight Jewelry wanted to cancel the contract should the discussion have taken place in private. However, Evander intentionally made her look bad in front of the media. If she were a reporter, she would’ve also thought something was wrong with her character that led to the cancellation of the contract.
She was going to recover the dignity that she had lost.
