Her Fae Lovers

Fifty-Nine

“What do you mean?” Lola asked as she picked up the teacup. Inhaling the warm, nutty, fragrant steam of the tea. Trying to let it soothe her frayed nerves.

“I loved your mother. I know you probably don’t remember, but she used to bring you to visit me. It broke my heart that she couldn’t love me back. Then I fell for you, as you got older.” Erik said as he looked out into the sun-dappled yard before turning to look back at Lola.

Lola shook her head. She couldn’t remember exactly when she had met Erik. Just that she had known him for as long as she could remember. Trying to think of a time where he looked different than he did now. In her memories.

He was just a blur. His presence was faceless. Just the vague notion that she had always found him handsome, or that she used to. Now, when she closed her eyes, Lola couldn’t help but think of Lu and the way he would smile as he spun her around. Or how Merrow’s eyes would twinkle with mischief as he leaned closer to her to steal a kiss. How Bodach would pull her body closer to his so he could pull her into a kiss that would leave her toes curling. Or Puca and the way his hand would snake around her neck as he pulled her closer to him, his intentions clear.

Lola shook her head, trying not to think about what she wanted. What she was giving up. This is what they needed.

“Is that why you look the same as you did in the picture?” She asked, bringing her attention back to Erik.

He nodded, sitting his coffee cup down to cross his legs as he put his hands in his lap. “You and your mother are a lot a like, I choose this form because it was what she liked. Would you like me to change it?”

“What? Why?”

“I want you to like how I look Lola.” Erik said and Lola took a sip of her tea, unsure of how to respond. “We will be spending a lot of time together in the future.”

It was too much information to take in. That he had loved her mother.

Swirling the tea around her mouth, she gulped it down, finishing it off.

“I like the way you look Erik.” Lola said looking away, trying not to let him see the lie on her face. She didn’t notice the way his face fell at her words.

“It’s okay if you don’t love me yet, Lola. We will have all the time in the world for me to make you love me like I love you.” Erik said as he moved closer to her, sitting on the edge of his seat.

He took the teacup from Lola’s hands, sitting it onto the coffee table. He moved to his knees to crouch in front of Lola, “I will send them to the fae realm if you give me this one thing.”

Lola’s heart thudded in her chest and she took a deep breath as his thumb stroked over the back of her hand. She knew she couldn’t do this, she couldn’t give herself to him. There had to be another way.

“Erik, I-”

“You don’t have to say it.” Erik said, placing his finger over her lips and she felt heat spread across her skin. “I already know what your worried about.”

Her eyebrows scrunched together as she tried to shake the feelings that were starting to build up inside of her. Feelings she knew she didn’t have towards Erik.

“I know you’re worried about hurting me, but I’ll show you that you can’t.”

Lola pulled away from him, pressing her lips together as she looked back over at the teacup. “What did you do?” She asked, panic filling her as she tried to push herself away from the unseelie king.

“I gave you something to help you relax.” Erik said, resting his hands on her knees. “I could see that you were tense. Just a tea to help you with your desires.”

Pushing his hands away, Lola moved to stand. “I need to get home.”

“Lola, I don’t think that’s a good idea. I can take care of you.” Erik said as he rested his hand on her forearm, halting her in her tracks at his soft touch.

“Erik, what are you doing?” Lola asked, trying to pull her arm away as he moved closer. His hand coming up to cup her cheek.

“Lola, I love you.” He said, leaning closer. Lola squeezed her eyes closed as she brought her knee up.

Erik let out a huff of air as he felt the wave of nausea sweep over him. Pain radiating from his aching testicles.

Backing up towards the door, Lola didn’t dare take her eyes off of her once friend.

“Lola,” he growled out as he stood straighter. She turned the doorknob, cursing when she found it locked.

“Erik, please.”

“We can do this the easy way, or the hard way.” Erik said with a growl, “I could worship you as my queen, or you’ll be locked up until you can learn to love me. I won’t force you to want me. Bu you will eventually give in.” His eyes were cold as he spoke. Lola couldn’t help the fear she felt as her eyes met his gaze. “I couldn’t force your mother. It drove her to make a deal with that bitch.”

“Erik, I could never love you.” Lola said with a sob as the heat spread through her body, her eyes turning red as she looked up at his harsh smile.

“We shall see.” He said with a snap of his fingers and they were inside the shop. His fingers digging into her wrist as he pulled her towards a room she hadn’t been in before. She could hear someone yelling, feel the sweep of magic over her skin as he she took in all the boxes that she now knew held fae creatures.

“Erik, what are you doing? Let me go.” Lola said, trying to tug her wrist from his grip. “Please.”

“Taking you somewhere where you can rethink your decision.” He said. Lola chose that moment to kick the back of his knee. Trying to get him to loosen his grip, she dug her nails into his wrist and pulled her other hand. She had to get away. Her body thrummed with arousal and shame.

“Now sweetling,” He said, turning to look back at her as if she had barely touched him. “Don’t make me hurt you.”

“Erik.” Lola sobbed as he jerked her body closer to his.

“My friend has brought you a gift. Be a good girl and I’ll let you say your goodbyes.” He growled out as sharp horns sprouted around his forehead and Lola bit back a scream.

“Oh, she makes you lose your temper?” A melodic voice said from deeper in the room, and Erik turned with a snarl. “How fun.”

“Not now, Callista.”

Lola looked at the woman with a frown. She knew her.

Looking past Callie towards the cage-like cell, Lola let out a gasp. “Puca.”Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
