Chapter 1269
Kenneth shut his eyes, feeling utterly defeated.
"As for him," Connor glanced at Hawthorn, who was barely clinging to life on the ground, "find a place and bury him."
The woman who dared to curse him must have had a death wish.
"Yes, sir," Rory nodded with respect.
"You two-" Connor suddenly fixed his gaze on Jacob and Carly.
The two were on the verge of breaking down from fear, and the moment he looked at them, they dropped to their knees with a thud!
Connor: "..."
Flora: "..."
Jacob and Carly were terrified that Connor might casually say something like "bury them" again. They didn't want to die! They still had a lot of living to do!
"Take them out to meet with the Gilbert family," Connor said, sounding a bit exasperated.
"Yes, sir," Rory nodded, grabbing a couple of guys to help lift the shaky Jacob and Carly and escort them out of the training area.
"Want to head out and take a look?" Flora asked.Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
"Sure," Connor nodded, always willing to go along with Flora's suggestions.
A group of people began to head outside.
Meanwhile, outside the training field, families were reuniting with their kids. But the Shu family and the Gilbert family were still waiting.
Sydney was frowning, "What's the hold-up? Why isn't my brother out yet?"
Kenneth hadn't shown up either.
"Still not out?" Joey overheard and wandered over. "That's funny, my two troublemakers are missing too. Seems like they messed up and got held back. Sydney, did your brother get in trouble too?" Joey was about to leave since he couldn't spot Jacob and Carly, but he realized Flora was nowhere to be found. He'd sent folks to look for her, but she hadn't turned up yet.
So, he decided to stick around and wait for Flora. He worried that since it was her first time at the training field, she might get lost and end up somewhere she shouldn't, which could be a disaster. Sydney shot a disdainful look at Joey and scoffed.
Who was he to talk? Her brother was having the time of his life at the training field. Living it up.
Unlike Jacob and Carly, who were probably getting the short end of the stick.
Joey, sensing she wasn't going to talk to him, rolled his eyes. Just because her fiancé was from the Enforcement Division, she thought she was hot stuff.
Fine, ignore me if you want.
"Tara, why haven't they come out yet? I've been calling, but there's no answer," Sydney said, growing impatient, turning to Tara who was next to her.
Tara seemed a bit distracted as well, "Let's wait a bit longer..."
The Roth family hadn't sent anyone for the prestigious families' youth assessment, so Tara didn't really need to be there. She had come along with Sydney to meet someone... en
"Hold on, I'll ask around for you!"
Tara suddenly spotted Shadow and quickly caught up, "Shadow!"
Shadow turned, surprised to see Tara, but politely nodded, "Miss Tara."
"I heard your boss is back, right?" Tara bit her lip, a little shy but curious. That man...
Was he finally back?
"Yes, he's returned," Shadow nodded, noting Tara's expression and couldn't help but feel a bit wistful.
Initially, everyone thought Tara and the boss were a perfect match. She had a great family background and talent, but now...
Flora was ahead of the game!
Except for family status, Flora outshone Tara in every way!
Most importantly, the boss liked Flora!
"So..." Tara blushed, "Can I see him?"
"The boss, he..." Shadow frowned,
about to explain that Connor hade
already taken his heart back to the Martial World, but then there was a sudden outburst nearby.
"Oh my goodness! My kids! Why are you being carried out like this?"
It was Mae's voice.
Mae was horrified, seeing Jacob and Carly being carried out like that!
