Devoted To You

Chapter 24 Don’t pretend. I know you’re still awake

She struck a friendly deal with the owner in exchange for a few extra hot dogs to eat. The rich sauce on the hot dogs hit her senses.

When she got out of the crowd, she turned around and watched the owner of the hot dog stand come out, holding the man by his collar and saying something.

Susan glanced over and saw him looking at herself the same way. He laughed and slammed the owner into the booth, and then walked straight towards her.

Her face was solemn, not caring about what was in her hands, she ran forward almost as if she were running for her life.

In the dark alley, no one came, Susan watched the light, a shadow gradually lengthening, and the voice is also gradually approaching.

In the stillness of the air, it seems that she can hear the sound of her own heartbeat.

Susan covered her mouth and nose, holding her breath as she watched the man walk past her, she didn’t dare to breathe, staring intently at the location.

The man in the hoodie came back and looked around before leaving the place.

Susan stared closely at the man’s back until she could no longer see before she softened her body and leaned against the corner to catch her breath.

That man, she could not see the face and did not know what he was going to do. While relieved, Susan found herself sweating because of fear, her entire back had been wet as if she had just jumped into the water and soaked.

After breathing a sigh of relief, she emerged from this dark alley.

Just before she had completely calmed down, she watched as a group of people blocked her path.

Susan was surprised for only a moment, and then asked without changing her face, “What are you doing?”This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.

“What do you think we’re going to do like this.” They laughed, their eyes filled with greed, Susan shuddered and stepped back involuntarily.

“You want money, I’ll just give it to you.” She gulped and negotiated with them, “Otherwise, you won’t get much if you drive me to death, and there will be someone to avenge me.”

They laughed, loudly, but to her ears, it sounded like the devil was grinding his teeth in a cocky grin.

Susan looked at the group without changing her face, “I can give you money, and you let me go. That way each of us will get what we want, and we don’t have to worry about anyone retaliating against you.”

“Retaliate against us?” They laughed, which made her feel a little more uneasy. As expected, after they stopped, one of them sneered, “You do not know who dares to trouble us on this street!”

“I’m not afraid to die if you’re not afraid of revenge.” She hardened her voice and looked at them indifferently.

“Susan!”

The white headlights swayed twice, and Susan looked over to see a young man in a suit getting out of the car under the glare.

She temporarily relaxed her guard and watched as the man in front of her was slowly approaching her.

“Looking for help?” They grunted coldly and clenched their fists, ready to beat this suddenly appearing man to a pulp.

One person is dealing with several people at the same time. Susan leaned tightly against the wall, her heart felt like it was being pulled up, and her eyes followed him in the crowd.

Chandler cannot care about that much, just kicked the man, the next second he felt a sharp pain in his stomach.

When he looked back, he saw the man behind him leaping with his fist.

Without saying a word, he knocked the man down again.

“Still want to fight?” Chandler asked in a cold voice, his eyes skimming over them before resting on Susan.

Chandler was relieved to see that she had returned to her normal self. If the people who followed her today had not come to report, what would he see tomorrow?

Perhaps he would have seen her dead body.

Chandler was angry and couldn’t help but walk over to her, questioning her, “Why didn’t you call me?”

“What about you? Why did you know I was here?” Susan didn’t hesitate to dislike her back.

Chandler did not know what to say, his brow furrowed lightly, looking at the person in front of him.

The punk on the ground saw that he couldn’t beat him alone, so he struggled to get up, and then ran away at a fast pace.

Susan was relieved to see that the people were gone, and she almost fell to the ground when her knees gave out.

Chandler immediately reached out and tried to help her. But Susan took a cautious step back and looked warily at the man in front of her.

Chandler paused, and then consciously withdrew his hand.

When he saw that she was okay, Chandler put his mind at ease. The pain in his back came like a tidal wave, and the feeling of weightlessness in his head made him fall headlong to the ground.

She was also startled and looked at the person on the ground.

Susan, however, carefully nudged him and hesitated when she saw that he was unmoved.

“Chandler?” she patted his face, but unfortunately he didn’t move.

Susan’s voice went cold and impatient, “Don’t pretend, I know you’re still awake.”

Seeing that he was still not moving, Susan grimaced and let out a soft hum, “You’re pretending.”
