Contract Go Wrong: The CEO’s Tempting Bride

Chapter 23 You’re So Lucky

“What!– where!?” Gina dropped her bag and splayed both hands on her chest. She followed the panic-stricken guy’s gaze and gasped.

He was staring wide-eyed at her knee which was bandaged heavily. The hem of her cloth was pulled up, probably due to the fit she had just thrown with her bag.

And now, her bare knee was exposed.

“It– It’s not a big deal.” She quickly tugged the cloth back and said, “I scratched my leg somewhere. Hehe, If you haven’t mentioned it, I wouldn’t have remembered.”

She was speaking the truth but seeing his expression Gina felt a headache coming. ‘Urgh!’

“No, Gina. You’re hurt!” Fred pointed a shaking finger at her knee. “See, there are traces of blood on it. L… let’s go– I’ll take you to the hospital. Yes, it won’t hurt again after we get to the hospital”

His incessant babbling filled the whole car and Gina pressed both palms on her ears. “Stop it, Fred! I said I’m fine!” she screamed.

Fred was silenced from her outburst. However, the glint of worry in his eyes didn’t diminish a little. His eyes darted again to her knee which was now covered by her cloth’s fabric and he breathed out a sigh.

“How did you get hurt,” he asked, now serious.

Gina pouted and lowered her head, mumbling something under her breath. She had managed to evade her best friend, father, and grandfather. She doesn’t want another mother hen hovering over her.

“Let’s just go, it’s getting late” She murmured with a yawn.

Who said she wasn’t uneasy, lying all day to those that cared most about her. However, her situation was hopeless, and speaking the truth would land her in bigger trouble.

After taking her things from Dinah’s place, she needed to go back tonight, hopefully, a taxi would take her there. She couldn’t risk dancing further with her fate, and relying on assumptions that the devil might not return soon.

“Alright,” Fred conceded. He started the car and Gina smiled gratefully while trying to suppress another yawn.

After a while, she sensed the car stopped and her eyes fluttered open.

They were now in a silent neighborhood but hadn’t reached Dinah’s place. She frowned and turned to him. “What are you–”

But before she could finish her words, Fred had left the car.

He closed the door, and through the window, he said, “I’ll be right back. We need to get your wound dressed again. If you live it like this, I’m afraid it would lead to a deeper injury.”

Seeing the stains of blood on the bandage, Fred was most convinced that her wound had opened up. He couldn’t waste time arguing with the girl, and with that said, he hurried inside a nearby drugstore.

Gina could not close her mouth at the sudden turn of events. She should have seen it coming. ‘Argh!’ she ruffled her hair and stomped her feet.

Minutes were ticking by and she doesn’t want to spend the night in the city.

She once again opened her bag to bring out her phone. Just then, her gaze landed on the birthday present she had bought her grandfather, packed neatly inside her bag.

She sighed and decided to keep it safe. Without any money now, it would be a miracle if she could afford another one in the future.

She brought out her phone and watched the time. It was way past midnight. ‘Urgh!’ she tapped her foot on the floor, hoping the guy would not take long.

Another yawn overtook her, and she covered her mouth.

When Fred returned, Gina was dozing off already. He went to her side and opened the door.

Gina woke up at the sound of the door opening. She glanced at his hand which was holding a plastic bag and sighed.

Without saying a word, she revealed her knee and he squatted in front of her.

Carefully, he peeled off the bandage and started treating her opened wound.

“You should be careful next time,” he scolded. But Gina’s mind was not with her, she wanted to go back to the Mansion tonight.

Her eyelids were heavy, she could barely keep them open. And the slight pain she felt from the disinfectant now and then was the only thing that kept her awake.

After Fred was done, he discarded the things in a nearby trash can and came back to the car.

“Gina?” he called out but didn’t get any reply. He called out again, now frowning. However, when he peeked at her, found her sleeping soundly.

He chuckled, then lifted his hand and tucked a stray strand behind her ear, before he continued driving.

His gaze would dart to her now and then and he sighed for the umpteenth time.

When they arrived at the tall apartment building, he woke her up and got out of the car.

Gina rubbed her eyes, and also left the car. She bid him goodnight and dragged her legs inside the building.

With each step, her legs were becoming heavy. Thinking back to the stunts she had pulled all day, with only a little bit of the food she had eaten, Gina was so exhausted and at the same time famished.

When she reached her friend’s apartment, she knocked for a long time before the door was finally opened.

“Gina, you’re back…” Dinah rubbed her eyes. she looked behind her and a frown settled on her face. “Where’s your husband?” she inquired.

She had thought they would come back together.

Gina shook her head, her eyes opening and closing. she nudged Dinah aside and staggered inside the room.

She slumped on the bed, and her hands wandered for the pillow. “Adrian’s gonna peel my skin off and feed it to his minions,” she mumbled incoherently and fell into a deep slumber.

Dinah wondered what she was saying. She stared at her in confusion, stretched on the bed, and grabbed a pillow.

“Gina, you’re so lucky to find a very rich guy. I would dance all day in the rain, if it was me, my boring life would finally be perfect,” she also mumbled in her sleep.© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

Gina murmured something back, but both girls were now deep in sleep.
