CHAPTER 1517 THE RESULTS OF A NIGHT’S CAREFUL CONSIDERATION
Edward clearly had no intention to elaborate further, so he simply nodded politely.
Tessa noticed his reluctance and did not pursue the matter further.
Therefore, they simply sat quietly in the living room for some time.
Glancing at the time, Edward eventually stood up and said, "Young Madam, it's about time for me to head to work. Please take care of Mona on my behalf." This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.
"Go ahead. I'll be here." Tessa waved her hand dismissively, gesturing for him to leave.
Not long after Edward departed for work, Mona walked out of the bedroom while rubbing her eyes blearily.
"Tessa? When did you arrive?" She stared at Tessa in astonishment.
Hearing Mona's voice, Tessa put down her phone and glanced over. "You're awake! I was worried, so I came to visit early in the morning. Go wash up quickly. I brought you some breakfast."
A few minutes later, Mona finished washing up and sat down on the couch beside Tessa.
While she was eating her breakfast, she also seemed to be hesitating over something.
Tessa noticed her odd behavior and questioned, "What's wrong?"
"Um… Did you see anybody here when you arrived?"
Mona thought back to last night. Edward had brought her back to her hotel room. Then, he authoritatively insisted on staying over to take care of her.
Afterward, she soon fell asleep after lying down on the bed. She did not know whether the cause of her exhaustion was her pregnancy. Nevertheless, she vaguely had the impression that somebody had been by her bedside throughout the night.
Mona's question made Tessa burst into laughter. "Are you asking about Edward? He was here when I arrived. After I arrived, he asked me to take care of you. So about you two…"
Her sentence trailed off. Although she did not say anything, Mona understood the meaning behind her teasing expression.
"Edward says he wants to marry me." Mona hesitated for a moment, then she blurted out the contents of her discussion with Edward yesterday.
Tessa was dumbfounded by the revelation. Although she had always known that Edward generally handled most affairs efficiently, she never imagined that he would take the same approach when it came to his marriage matters.
"What do you think?"
"I think his suggestion makes sense. Since I can't marry the person I love anyway. Not to mention, such an accident occurred… Instead of listening to my family and marrying somebody I don't know, I might
as well try being in a relationship with him."
Mona revealed the outcome after spending the whole night considering her options.
Although Edward was not her type, she did not have a bad impression of him. What was more, he was somebody who worked beside Nicholas. His character was definitely trustworthy.
At the same time, inside the president's office at the Sawyer Group.
Edward finished reporting his work but did not leave immediately.
Hence, Nicholas inquired, "What is it?"
"President Sawyer, I would like to borrow two chefs from you. Mona is pregnant, and her morning sickness is severe. She can't seem to keep anything down at the moment." Edward stated his request. "Naturally, I will pay them additional wages for their services."
"So, you've discussed things with each other." Nicholas glanced over curiously.
"So, you've discussed things with each other." Nicholas glanced over curiously.
Edward was his confidante over the years after all. It was only right for him to show some concern toward such matters.
Edward did not conceal his intentions. "Since she is pregnant but has no suitable candidate for marriage, I thought we could try living together. After all, I don't have a person I love either. We might as well try being in a relationship with each other."
"Those are your personal affairs, so you should do as you see fit. That woman is my wife's friend, though. If you treat her badly and cause my wife to be worried, don't blame me for causing trouble for you." Nicholas reminded his subordinate.
Edward let out an awkward laugh and nodded to indicate his understanding.
The days that followed were peaceful and uneventful.
Tessa spent her time with her friends and family while waiting for her brother's wedding to arrive.
In the blink of an eye, it was the day before the wedding.
Sabrina held a small banquet and invited only her female friends.
Likewise, Timothy held one for himself too.
Logically speaking, Tessa should have been on the groom's side. It was just that Timothy's guests were all male, so she accepted Sabrina's invitation instead.
The banquet was held in the Gulliver Residence.
Among the guests who arrived, there were some she knew and some she did not. Even so, the guests would actively come over to greet her whenever they saw her.
She politely responded to every one of them.
