Branch Forty One
When Xavier heard that she wanted to talk about the business he felt relieved. Although the was calm, she might have been still very pissed at him.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
“Yes about that, I had been waiting for a new month. I would ask the realtor to come over this week and show you some properties. Choose a high-end one in a good neighborhood” Xavier said.
The sigh of relief could be heard from afar. He had been vindicated. He was not in trouble at all.
“Okay, I think that is fine. I would handle the interior decoration and staff hiring myself then” Jessica responded.
“Let me know if you need any money or help. You can use the card I gave you for purchases” Xavier said.
“I will” Jessica responded.
Since she was seeing it as an investment that she would pay back she did not find it difficult to collect his money she would give the business her all and pay him back within the year.
“Another thing I want to discuss is our sleeping arrangement,” Jessica said.
She was going to settle them all that night without carrying anything over to the next day.
“What about it?” Xavier asked.
Although in the beginning, he had been uncomfortable sleeping and sharing the same bed with a strange but now she was more than a stranger and he was getting used to the arrangement.
“We stayed together because we wanted to convince Dawson about our relationship, but now that the cat is out of the bag we might as well stay separately. After all, we aren’t family” Jessica said with a sharp tone at the end of the sentence.
Xavier felt the sharpness of her tone. He knew that he was not going to go Scott free. Why did he think she had forgotten about it?
“Is there a reason you need to leave?” Xavier asked.
In his eyes, she was being unnecessarily cruel. How could she just drop that bomb on him after a hearty meal?
“I see no reason for us to stay together” Jessica retorted.
She planned to get what she wanted and she was going to go all the way to the end. In this mansion surely there would be a spare room for her to sleep. When Xavier saw the determination in her eyes he knew there was no stalling or going back for her. He knew he had to cave in.
“I would ask the house decorator to come over and prepare one of the rooms for you tomorrow,” Xavier said giving up.
Since they were not planning on being intimate with one another there was no reason for them to stay in the same room after all. She could go for all he cares.
“Thank you so much. One last thing” Jessica said.
At this point, Xavier knew he would have to let her have her way. It was obvious she was still mad at him and was not going to let it end just like that.
“And what is that?”
“It’s about the meals”
Xavier had never known what it meant to be played before but he felt like he was experiencing it right hand. It felt like a betrayal. He could not believe that the first meal he seemed to enjoy she was going to take away from her.
“If this concerns me shouting at you at the hospital. I already said I’m sorry” Xavier said sulking.
It was the first time that Jessica saw Xavier display another emotion apart from aloofness and natural anger.
“When?” she asked confused.
From all she could remember she couldn’t remember Xavier saying as much as a simple sorry.
“You never said you were sorry” she defended.
“I did not?” Xavier asked his face flushed.
“Yes, you did not” Jessica responded.
Maybe if she was not as angry as she was she would have not suggested having different rooms or even to scrap her making dinner for him. She loved with all her might cooking for others.
“I barely apologize,” Xavier said murmuring.
“Very obvious,” Jessica said.
“You heard me?” Xavier asked shocked.
“Yes genius” Jessica replied him.
“If you have nothing else to say, I you suggest you ask the chef to resume making your meals back from tomorrow” She added standing up.
“Wait Jessica,” He said stopping her. “Sit back down” he added.
She sat down and crossed her hands across her chest. Why was an apology so hard for someone who had offended?
“I was very rude and inconsiderate this morning” he started his voice trailing off at the end of his statement.
“Those words are an understatement to how I feel,” Jessica said with a snarky comment.
“I know and that is why I am trying my best to apologize right now” Xavier responds feeling suppressed anger.
For any reason, he was not willing to miss out on the meals that allowed his appetite to open back up. The Doctor had warned him against his bad eating habit saying he was tending to a disorder of not stopped immediately.
“I am sorry. I was inconsiderate, and rude and let my anger get the best of me and I am sure I hurt your feeling. So let me apologize for my actions and words” Xavier added.
Jessica stared at his man a little. He looked lonely and sad. She wanted to hold him and let him know she was by his side even though he probably did not trust her. She wanted to help him get out of the situation even though she might not get to stay in his life.
If she helped him he might eventually fall in love with someone else but she was willing to take the risk and help him get out of his shell.
“I forgive you” she breathed out.
“And?” he asked like a little child expecting a gift.
“I will continue to make your meals” She added.
“Thank you,” Xavier said smiling.
That was the first time that she was seeing his smile and she could see his beauty. Why did he not smile?
