Chapter 41 Too Coincidental
Some things and some people, the more you try to stay away from them, the more likely you are to encounter them!
“Ranita!? What a coincidence to see you here!” Shannon’s tone was sweet and surprised, but her facial expression was exaggerated.
Ranita felt a sudden pang in her heart, suspecting that Shannon had deliberately come to their studio. Otherwise, this was too much of a coincidence!
Just as Ranita was about to speak, another person got out of the car – it was Brendon who should have been at work in the company. The woman’s breath caught in her throat as she frowned at him.
Seemingly explaining for Ranita’s benefit, Shannon linked arms with Brendon and apologized profusely, “Brendon, you accompanied me for dinner and drove me back here, which delayed your work.”
“But I’m really happy though. Don’t be mad at me!”
“I’m not mad! You can go back to work now!” Brendon usually kept his distance but if he skipped meetings just to accompany Shannon for dinner and drive her home, then he must have taken an interest in her.
After speaking briefly, Brendon nodded his head towards Ranita’s direction and said, “What brings you here?”
“My colleague took on Sugar Media’s project but something came up so I am taking over for her.” After explaining herself calmly without even glancing sideways or furrowing her brows once, she stood quietly by the side.
Shannon felt secretly pleased in her heart.
“Well then, since that’s settled, we’ll rely on Ranita later! Brendon, you can head back for now. With Ranita’s help, everything here will surely go smoothly!” Shannon said.
“Ranita is very professional; you can trust her,” Brendon added calmly, his gaze shifting to Ranita. “Don’t let Shannon upset you. If there’s anything, you can talk to me.”
He hadn’t even left, and he was already worried that she might mistreat someone?
Ranita suppressed a mocking smile and listened as Shannon spoke softly and vulnerably, “Brendon, Ranita is kind-hearted; she won’t do anything to harm me! It was all just a misunderstanding before!”Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
Ranita bit her lip to hold back her response.
Once the man had left, Shannon continued to wear her sweet facade, her voice soft and gentle. “Ranita, I’ll be relying on you a lot from now on!”
“It’s just my job,” replied Ranita calmly. There wasn’t much to say between her and Shannon, but due to their contract, Ranita would remain composed and fulfill her responsibilities.
“Regardless of anything else, I’m really grateful for your help,” said Shannon.
As soon as they entered Sugar Media’s doors, Shannon called over one of her trusted associates and instructed them, “Cindy, prepare a suitable pair of high heels for Ranita.”
With a half-smile on her face, Shannon looked down at Ranita’s flat shoes. “Mr. Semeraro is very picky. Your outfit looks good but those shoes might not be suitable…”
In the morning, Ranita’s shoes broke. She had borrowed this pair from Olivia in a hurry to make do, and the casual style was definitely not suitable for a professional setting. She had been in such a rush that she had forgotten about it.
Ranita furrowed her brow, wondering how to remedy the situation when Cindy interjected, “Miss Bowman, please hurry up. Mr. Semeraro will be here any minute! You can’t possibly receive a guest with just one shoe like this, can you? If this upsets Mr. Semeraro and causes us any losses, will you take responsibility for it?”
Ranita reluctantly gave Cindy a shoe size and soon enough Cindy came back with a shoebox in hand saying, “Hurry up and change into these!”
“Shannon! Mr. Semeraro is already in the elevator on his way up!”
Ranita had no choice but to immediately change into the new heels provided by Cindy before mustering up some energy alongside Shannon as they went out to greet him.
“Mr. Semeraro! It’s been such a long time!” exclaimed an enthusiastic Shannon as she hugged Arthur upon his arrival.
“My dear friend – it’s great seeing you again!” replied Arthur warmly despite having an Italian accent that made speaking English publicly less appealing.
Arthur was an Italian composer with blonde hair and blue eyes who was over sixty years old yet still exuded youthful vitality; he was quite eye-catching indeed!
Ranita, as the interpreter, spoke up immediately, “Mr. Semeraro, I am the interpreterfor this occasion, Ranita Bowman. Welcome to Kurima.”
