A kiss

Love’ss 192

Madelyn’s head throbbed.

“So, what’s your plan now?”

“I never should have listened to you,” Carrie snapped.

“Given Mrs. Sinclair’s temperament, she’ll definitely want to throw you in jail, and not even Jackson will be able to save you.”

She questioned if Jackson would protect her, given what she had done to Sophia before.

Madelyn thought Carrie had no choice but to run. She figured that even though Carrie was being chased, at least she was free. The more Madelyn pondered it, the more she felt they had made the right choice.

But then Carrie’s following words hit her like a punch to the gut.

“The problem is, I’m pregnant now. He’s been chasing me so much I haven’t even had time to go to the hospital!”

Madelyn was stunned.

“What?”

“If I keep running away from him, I’ll have to give birth to this baby any time soon.”

Madelyn’s mind raced. She tried to recall when Carrie fell pregnant in her previous life and reckoned that it was much later.

It seemed that with Madelyn’s rebirth, things had changed, and Carrie was now pregnant with Jackson’s child earlier than expected.

But no matter what had changed, Madelyn was determined to protect Andrew and prevent Easton from harming him again.

“Do you not want the baby?” Madelyn asked after taking a sharp breath.

Her question made Carrie explode with anger.

“Of course not! It was just a fling. There’s no way I’d have a baby with him!”

Madelyn was speechless. NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.

*If it was just a fling, why were you with him for so long?

Based on what she knew about Carrie, the relationship wouldn’t last more than a month if Carrie weren’t serious, and sometimes she’d dump the guy after just a week.

“Well, that’s because he’s awful!” Carrie fumed.

Now Jackson’s people were keeping a close eye on her. Even if she managed to shake them off, they’d find her again in no time. So, getting an abortion was nearly impossible.

Madelyn didn’t expect that her advice for Carrie to run would lead to such a mess.

“So, what are you going to do?”

Either way, Carrie didn’t want this baby. The problem was there was no time for an abortion.

Always sharp and quick–witted, Carrie found herself entangled in trouble with Jackson again.

Seeing Carrie too angry to speak, Madelyn asked cautiously, “Should we get Jackson to back off so you

have time to get the abortion?”

“Are you out of your mind? Andrew has really spoiled you.”

“Yeah, maybe my brain is fried. But seriously, what should we do now?”

In all her years with Andrew, nothing had been worse for Madelyn than Elena and Easton’s schemes. Carrie’s tangled mess was more than she could handle. If she had more experience, she never would have suggested Carrie run from Jackson in the first place.

Carrie seethed.

“What should we do? Madelyn, if this baby is born, I’m leaving it with you. I mean it!”

“Sure. I’ll take care of it!”

Carrie got even angrier when she heard this.

“Are you dumb?”

Before Madelyn could respond, Carrie angrily hung up the phone.

Madelyn’s mind raced with thoughts about Carrie’s pregnancy. She thought about how Carrie could

survive Jackson’s pursuit while pregnant. She couldn’t believe Jackson was still furious after all this time and seemed intent on killing Carrie.

She questioned if there was something wrong with Sophie.

Madelyn called Grace, who answered quickly.

“Maddie, what’s up? Do you miss me?”

“Yes, I miss you. How has Mrs. Sinclair been lately?”

“I heard she got hurt but was already discharged from the hospital. She was playing poker with her friends yesterday. Why the sudden interest?”

Madelyn was relieved to hear it wasn’t life–threatening, but she grew even more puzzled. She wondered why Jackson was still chasing Carrie around the world if Sophie was fine.
